Usually I try to face each day with a positive attitude, but I have to admit, when animals are thrown out or left to fend for themselves, I almost hate people.
If the owner wants the dog back they will have no choice but to give the dog back or they could be arrested. Animals are considered property to their owners. It doesn't matter if the dog was lost and you are taking care of it.
My best advice is not to spread the word around that you have this dog if you don't want to give it back.
I agree and I don't blame the good citizen for not being willing to return the dog. Thank God that there are still good people out there and thank you to the good citizen for taking care of these dogs!
to the driver of the truck/car that hit the dog.... shame on you! you are horrible! to the person who found the dog and cared for it.... props! and many thanks! and finally to THE dog owner and ALL dog owners... please put tags on your dogs and make sure they are safe/secure on your property! they should not be running around town or at least have a tag so they can be returned! it's not too difficult people....
It is against laws to keep the dog if the owner wants it back.
Many of us have had our beloved pets wander off or 'slip the collar' so to speak and terrible things do occasionally happen to them while they are gone. If the dog was not picked up by animal control (which is the usual occurance per the other chaos on the site right now)then the owners may have had no idea as to it's location and may even still be looking for it to the best of their ability. I have personally paid vet bills from helping an injured animal belonging to someone else. You really have no right to get that spent money back actually. It is a good samaritan deed. How do you know that this is not the companion of a 90 year old homebound person and it wandered off somehow???
God bless the person that found this dog.One of my dogs just died of natural causes after 15yrs of good life.Even though he was"just a dog",as some people say,He had his on personality, felt pain and happiness and was always happy to see me,even if he had seen me less than five minutes earlier.I loved that old dog, and I know, without a doubt, he loved me.
