HBO completed local film work on its series ’Sharp Objects’ over the weekend and a large portion of the crew left town. The crew camp in the Gordon parking lot off College Drive has been dismantled.

Jean-Marc Vallée Day
Mayor Peter Banks (left) presented ‘Sharp Objects’ director Jean-Marc Vallée with a proclamation proclaiming July 12 Jean-Marc Vallée Day in Barnesville. Two days later, Vallée learned he had received an Emmy Award nomination for Best Director for another HBO work ‘Big Little Lies’. That production garnered a total of 16 Emmy nominations. Vallée said rough cuts of the work here were excellent and termed Barnesville a ‘visually stunning’ film location. (Photo: Walter Geiger)
