Doesn't make much sense to me to publicize that all emergency personnel will be at Ritz park. I'm sure the criminals will have free reign with all the law abiding citizens and law enforcement out of their houses and not on patrol!
*facepalm* yeah im sure all the police in the county will be at that one spot. come on. even small town agencies like this know better. the regular officers on patrol that night will be out in the county. this will basically be all the officers that are off will be coming in on their off-time to do this for the community. go ahead and find something negative about that too.
Sounds like this is to heighten neighborhood watch, which is a good idea. We all need to help watch out for each other. I think there are a lot of times when neighbors spot those who are messing around where they shouldn't be when the owners are not at home. Of course, anything that anyone does to try to enrich quality of life and cooperation is up for criticism. Just goes with the flow.
I'm anxious to participate. I'll turn my lights on, lock my doors, leave my house, and spend the evening with the girl that lives next door. Sounds like great fun.
#7 and staff,
I talk to Sheriff and Police Chief. Fire fighters and EMTs only. Not law enforcement. Emergency personnel will be at the Barnesville fire department or ritz park. Save a life.
Is there some sort of rain cloud hanging over everyone?
Just do whatever you can to participate. I work until 5:30 and then have a class from 7-8. At the very least I can lock the doors and leave my porch light on.
This is a symbolic show of solidarity, not a mandatory function that you will get a grade on.
Jeepers, people.....
I think if they really want to help the community we should start off at the police station and raid mill st and all streets around it and then work our way over to the white peoples trailer park and look for stuff over there too.
When is the city gonna start writing citations to who ever owns the lot across and down from the police station. It, in more ways that one, looks like a freakin jungle over there. I thought that the city will cut it then charge the owner a fee for it. If they dont pay then issue a warrant for them. This place is falling apart and its mostly the city and county that needs to be held accountable. The owners will only do so much and then you have to enforce stuff beyond that. There are so many areas around that needs to be cut, bush hogged, and weed eated. Most of them are the county or city responsiblity. Lets get more inmate labor going if its such a short staff thing. There are tons of things that need to be improved at the recreation department also. They DO have inmate labor over there. Get more inmates. They have to be fed daily anyway. Might as well put them to work and give back to society.

So what? My job. When I get home at 6 or 8 pm.
What about fire fighters and EMTs? Not at Ritz Park.
