When you notice the bus driver being stupid and not knowing what they are doing CALL THE BUS SHOP!!!!!! The more complaints that are lodged then the more likely they are to do something about it. If you just blow it off then its your own fault you didn't take enough action to try and get something done. Also Be glad that we have bus drivers right now. They having had a raise in several years and compared to many surrounding counties they are underpaid. You also have a few drivers who are running off the good drivers we get.
Also if anyone sees a SCHOOL BUS DRIVER ON A CELL PHONE CALL SOMEONE ASAP!!! A state law was passed a few years ago that makes it Illegal for a bus driver to talk on a Cell phone while driving. I know some drivers will try to be slick and get around it but if you see it stop it. It will be the only way we can get them to focus on their job.
My child rides bus 02-7 that is driven by a old man that is not fit to drive a school bus but the county will not do a thing about it. He is friendly but too old to be driving and can not be made to retire. He forgot to let my child off the bus too many times to count, backed over a stop sign once when he realized he had forgotten to let her off, can not control the boys and girls being separated as requested by the principal on numerous occasions, lets the children do the write-ups for discipline which is never addressed and passes up streets on his route like he just "forgets" to turn. This is an injustice to the safety of our children. Should the drivers not be required to take a driving test for safety purposes? I dont feel safe putting my child on that bus and as a tax payer of the county should be able to do so with confidence knowing that we have compitent drivers. But unfortunately, I cant.
I have personally seen some of the antics of the bus drivers here in Lamar County and do not think that anyone even bothers to do a darn thing when someone calls in to complain about these drivers either. A parent should not have to drive their children to school to feel that they are safe.
The car rider line at LCPS was ridiculous. I sat for an hour before I got to pick up my kindergartner. She was in tears because it took so long and she thought I had forgotten to pick her up. I know the traffic will be better in a few days - the first day is always the worst. I will say that the faculty did a good job trying to help the lines move quickly - there were just SOOOOO many cars!!!!
