Truck totaled on Hwy. 36 bypass

Im sure this will go down in the books as another tractor trailor accident and be looked upon negativly towards big rigs even though that big rig just didnt fall out of mid air and appear there. Unless that rig was doing 200mph it is 100% pickup trucks fault. You dont even have to be on the scene as a witness to figure this one out.
I would much rather be around a bunch of truck drivers than people driving "4 wheelers".
You wont ever understand unless you have driven a big rig. Ask anyone who drives and they will tell you. Cars and pickups are very dangerous. They dont realize how long it takes a truck to stop. I have people cutt me off and then turn their blinkers on to turn off of road. Cars will pass a truck because they cant see around them then they will slow down and the truck is on your bumper again. Most trucks run 70-75mph tops. A lot of them will only run 60-65.

Moral of this rant is to be courteous to truck drivers. Dont pass them then slow back down. Give them time to react to what you are doing.

i'm sure the elderly man was at fault... lately i've seen more slow old people around this town going 10 mph LESS than the speed limit.. it's ridiculous honestly.... if you cannot at least go the SPEED LIMIT you need to be at home, nursing home, or call a taxi.... i bust yo ace next time old folk fo reel

Who says that the driver didnt attempt to make that turn and went into the lane of the truck. Look at the skid marks. They start off dark and fade out. Looks like he was on the correct side of the road to me. Maybe not. We need an update.

youre an idiot. No one said that truck drivers are perfect. There are far more worse drivers that are in passenger type vehicles than in big rigs. I drive daily and see it far more than you do unless you put a bunch of miles on your vehicle. I do agree that after a person turns 50 years of age there should be a more stricter policy on them driving. They should have to take a very strenuous test that proves that they are suitable for driving on the roadways. It should be done in 2 year intervals. This being said, there should be stricter tests for 15 and 16 year olds too. 47mph in a 55 zone in unexceptable. The state sees fit to run 55mph so do it. Anything less is a hazard. I see people all the time on 75 that are doing 50 mph and their knuckles have turned white they are gripping the wheel so hard. This type of person that fears for their life is who actually will end up causing a wreck at the end of the day.

However, the trucking industry isnt what it used to be. All these idiots that are Mcdonalds rejects are going out and getting their CDLs and getting on the road too. Buy you a CB radio and listen to all the foolishness that goes on. You can just imagine what their IQ score is. These 3 clowns that got busted for pot will probably have their CDLs before too long and add to the rest of the ones like them. Its a shame. Their is such a demand for drivers, a lot of companies are lowering their standards for good drivers with a little bit of sense.

When someone is becoming a hazard on the road they should be dealt with accordingly. I like the pull over idea but then again if they are going that slow in the first place they probably would cause a wreck by pulling back out into traffic. " I didnt see them coming" excuse would be quite a common statement.
We dont have to all drive the exact limit but 10 under is crazy. If you are that nervous maybe driving isnt for you. When drivers get that paranoid they tend to jerk the wheel at anything that comes in sight of them Whether it be a car approaching a stop sign that comes up to the road that they are on, or just oncoming traffic.
The idea "that" anyone who drives more than a mile or two under the speed limit is a hazard is about as true of a statement as you can get. 5mph is pushing it. Citations should be issued at anything more than that.
Most law enforcement agencies will give you about 10 over. The same should go for under the limit.

They should be grateful the rest of us are subsidizing the highways they use. Trucks are 90% of the traffic based road wear and about 10% of the tax revenue. Cars pay about 60% of their use in taxes but contribute less than 10% of the wear. If our nation funded railroads the same amount we all fund the roads used for long haul trucks, we would have been far better off. Truck drivers are getting a form of tax welfare.
