Swine Flu in Pike schools?

Apparently there are two students in a Pike County school(s) who are being tested for swine flu. Neither the ages of the students nor the school(s) they attend was disclosed but indications are they are from the same family.

LOL Swine Flu really? Thought that "scare" was over. Come on, Swine Flu is nothing more than the regular flu. Is "Emergency Protocols" and a scare like this really necessary still?

People need to realize that the 1918 flu pandemic that killed between 50 and 100 million people worldwide was also H1N1. The population of the earth at that time was approx. 1500 million, so this is between 3% and 7% of the entire worldwide population that died! One-third of the entire population became infected. Scientists have warned that the H1N1 virus that started in Mexico last spring would mutate over this summer and become much more virulent and dangerous. We have to be vigilent and not worry about whose ego might have been stepped on in releasing this information to parents.

The CDC isn't even calling it Swine Flu anymore its H1N1. This is really annoying because its misleading in a way to have the same illness called 2 different things. Why don't you call it what the CDC and several other news agencies are. I know many news outlets are referring to it properly why can't you?

I appreciate your desire for correct terminology; however, I won't have the White House tell me not to say "swine flu". I'm not exaggerating--Obama has told the American public not to use that term. Perhaps you would like to report me to the White House e-mail rat-out line; it's mailto:flag@whitehouse.gov. I think it's just fantastic that they chose to use the word "flag" in this address--appearing patriotic, yet "flagging" those of us who dare to be subversive and say what we think.

It's swine flu, because the virus started in pigs. That doesn't mean you can't eat pork, it's just where the virus started. Americans are smart enough to realize this. The idiot government in Egypt slaughtered all pigs, but we are free here. Don't tell me how to think.

Actually it wasn't OBAMA that decided to call swine flu H1N1 it was The World Health Organization (WHO). That decision was made on 5/1/09 Obama doesn't control the WHO. Check your facts.

Encourage incorrect terminology is promoting ignorance. No where in the above statement did the person tell YOU PERSONALLY not to call it swine flu they are just calling upon the media outlets to use proper terminology which a credible news source would already do.

Where can I buy the "I am a Swine Flu survivor" shirt? My entire family had "Swine Flu", never took any medication for it (Okay NyQuil but only because I needed an excuse to sleep in). Allow things like this to run it's course and you'll be fine. Like the first person said, its no worse than the regular flu. Now that my body has ways to fight this "pandemic" I sit back and laugh to myself at the media (even big/real media outlets) making a huge deal over this.

Picture of the pigs did make me a little hungry though. Going for dinner. Should I still be paranoid over that salmonella scare from awhile back, or is that pandemic over now?
