British swimming pools have begun hosting special Muslim swim sessions during which swimmers — including non-Muslims — are banned from entering the pool if their swimming attire doesn't comply with dress code required by Islamic custom.
Under the rules, men must be covered from the naval to the knees, while women, who swim separately, must be covered from the neck to the ankles, according to the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph newspaper.

I could care less how they dress for swimming.
A bikini at the beach is permission for “a nice girl” to run around half naked in public. Isn’t life grand?
Under certain lighting conditions on cloudy days, it may appear that I am not wearing swimwear attire. My Strappy Chick is certainly an eye catcher and conversation starter. Long live the sexy swimwear and down with the religious zealots that ORDER women to wear from neck to toe body covers similar to the one on my Mini Cooper. Let it all hang out!
This is a shame. If the muslims want pools for their own attire, let them build them, not impose their doctrine on those who do not wish to have it.
to Austrailia and swim with the sharks and see how they
like all those clothes hindering them to get away!
Thank God - I will not be going there to swim.
I will stay in the United States unless Obummer
tries to make us do this.
Please also note that Great Britain is not considered western culture so the notion that Muslims should assimilate into western culture in the UK (the location the op-ed addresses) is a bit problematic.
Western culture is defined by the culture of Great Britain as it is defined by the culture of the other western countries of Eurasia and by the countries of North America, which you seem to imply have a lock on "Western Culture."
Good comment on this post about Muslims being a religion, but your comment on post #7 seems to indicate the "rise of Muslims in the U.K." seems to imply some ill will or that you find this dangerous or threatening.
And contrary to your posts above, the question you posed was "What is appropriate beach attire for women (and perhaps some European men)?" so yes, it would seem this is a really slow news OR opinion week.
But hey, you got me to ignore the pile of work on my desk and post, so maybe it all worked out.
I can admit my mistakes though. I did misdefine western culture and for that I do apologize. I am not sure what socio-economic platform I was making reference to.
Therefore, I stand firm on my definition of western culture or "the western world" being in the cultures and peoples of Europe, North America, some countries in South America, Australia and New Zealand.
I don't find the rise of Muslims in the UK to be threatening in any way. I was responding to the accusation that posting an op-ed such as this one constituted proof of a slow news week.
And it is opinion week. Everything listed under the red box/header 'Opinions' means just that; be it gleaned from another news source, written by Walter Geiger, emailed in, or just on our minds.
Anyway. Thank you for reading and for commenting. NOW GET BACK TO WORK. hahahahahah!
The problem then becomes, not in what is to being desired, but the dynamic effects of hormones and the imagination when something so basic in the human psyche is made forbidden. Christianity with its puritan discipline toward the body also possesses these problems. What results many times is an unhealthy, hidden perversion within the culture and when brought to surface is generally blamed on the normal human desires and not the taboo practices toward them. This approach never allows the culture to evolve/mature to where normal sexual desires can be placed into a healthy adult manner.
This is why the addiction to pornography is so widespread among conservative men in both the Muslim and Christian community.
