If Obama thinks that Health Care goes to the heart of who we are as a people, then what of those babies in Illinois that survived abortions? He voted to deny them medical attention or should I say, “Health Care”. Hummmm
Let me say this to Christians, in the movie “The Preacher’s Wife”, Denzel Washington’s character (Angle Dudley) said this to Courtney B. Vance (Preacher) while crossing his two fingers, “Henry, I’m like this with the creator of the universe, now you don’t think a little door is going to stop me do you.” Every Christian can make that statement so we don’t need a government to provide for us nor do we obtain our identity from a godless state. Obama is not a savior, there is only ONE Savior and His name is Jesus.
We need to stop supporting these candidates that are secretly trying to remove God from every aspect of society and that include Obama.
John Stott the English Theologian said this, “If the state commands what God forbids, or forbids what God commands, then our plain Christian duty is to resist, not to submit, to disobey the state in order to obey God …Whenever laws are enacted which contradict God’s law, civil disobedience becomes a Christian duty.”
Now that’s peaceful resistance.
We need to follow the examples of the mid-wives in Exodus, Daniel concerning the edict of Darius, the three Hebrew boys concerning Nebuchadnezzar’s command, and John and Peter when they were told to stop preaching in the name of Jesus. God always strengthens those who will not submit to a godless state.

The Bible is not a religion, Christianity is, Islam is, and Buddhism is. The Bible has and still confirms historical events. If you and your scientist who have dedicated their lives to debunk the Bible would take the time to read it and see its benefit on society I think you would change your mind. As you know, the Bible is still the best selling book. :O)

One thing that is really hurting our country is the ACLU. They are going after so many people now and I feel Americans should voice their opinion of those who prosecute those who want to pray in public. Even Obama said after his meeting with religous groups "God Bless America". Are they going to sue him for saying this? I think not. But what is the difference?
The ACLU (among other organizations) fought to secure women the right to vote. The ACLU has tirelessly fought all forms of racial discrimination. The ACLU fought to secure the right of women to choose whether or not to have an abortion. The ACLU fought many provisions of the Patriot Act that allowed the government to spy on US citizens without first securing a warrant. No citizen had ever won a freedom of speech case in the US Supreme Court prior to the ACLU taking on such cases. The ACLU won the right for family members of US servicemen killed in combat to place the religious symbol of their choice on the serviceman's grave in federal cemeteries. The ACLU stopped the government from excluding citizens from jury service on the basis of gender.
I can go on and on if you like...
If I decide to pull the plug on a love one at the end of their life, is that murder? If I draft a living will and direct that the plug be pulled on me if certain circumstances arise, is that suicide? Is the government carrying out a death sentence murder? You might argue that those are different...that they are "legal" acts or they are "justified". Well, abortion is legal too, and there are just as many good arguments for its morality as for its immorality. The fact that some individuals are too obtuse and closed-mined to listen to the other side (& it goes in both directions) does not give either position the moral high ground.
Unlike yourself, and a select few other Barnesvillians, the ACLU doesn't presume to know, or push, what they think is "right" for everybody. The only thing the ACLU pushes is that everybody has the (legal) right to decide for themselves what is (morally) right for them. No one's moral manifesto should dictate the terms of anyone else's life.
Why, you do, of course. Every time the ACLU files a suit, by current law, their lawyers are paid from your taxes. When the ACLU wins a case against the Boy Scouts, the public display of the Ten Commandments, veterans memorials, and other symbols of American history and heritage guess who pays them? You do! However, there is current legislation going before the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, as well as a companion bill going before the House that is designed to put a stop to this...The ACLU supports many radical causes, and while they may have every right to do so, it should not be at the expense of taxpayers that do not support such causes.
If a person is murdered and she is caring a baby, that is called double homicide?? right??
So, If a woman goes to have an abortion, then that is not called murder??

I agree with you that ones belief should affect every aspect of their life. I also agree that we should feel very fortunate about what we believe is true within our own spiritual understanding. If your faith does not bring inner peace, it may be time to choose another that will.
I don’t feel sorry for those who have yet to find what they seek in life, because as the saying goes, “When the student is ready a teacher will appear”. Love does not wait on time, it waits on welcome. I don’t believe that praying in public is illegal. It’s force prayer which has become illegal. As for me, I pray 24/7. I, with every breath and every step, live my life with an awareness of the presence of a higher truth. It’s just that I must continually to make an effort to make myself available to it. The term “True Christian” is one I have never been able to use. I have found that the word truth is not an absolute, but a direction we all some how try to move toward. Some of us find ourselves little closer than others and we usually express it in gratitude. I believe God blesses us all, not just a particular nation, even the little pigmies in the Congo….;-) When we say “God bless America” what we are really saying is that. “May we as a nation, chose to move closer in the direction of a great truth. I have faith that we will. Sometimes we just take a round about way of getting there.

“Truth”….if the Buddhist are correct then we can all reach Nirvana. If the Hindus are correct then we will all be reincarnated and still pay for what ever we did in our previous life. If the naturalist and evolutionist are correct then no one will ever know. But if Christians are correct and Jesus is who He claimed to be then according to the Bible, there is no regress. There is no going back to change anything. It saddens me that man thinks that he is the measure of all things. This universe is so vast that we are but a speck of the tiniest dust particle on a world of dirt and yet you say there is no God. To make such an arrogant boast is so foolish. What will you say to God when you stand before Him? What is the harm in being Christian and worshiping something bigger than you are?

These men and others did what they did because they believed in an Eternal God who participates in the affairs of men.

It was nice of you to weigh in on this comment. Contrary to your understanding, The health care reform will not subsidize abortions and Pres. Obama is no more responsible for the tragedy of abortion than any other president, so why are you consistently trying to pin this on him? I hope one day you do not find yourself out of a job, out of health care insurance, out of money and in bad health. Health care reform is a moral issue that involves almost 50 million American that are presently uninsured and most for reasons not of their own doing. I am completely confused how American Christianity can separate their ethics from their theology. They can scream relentlessly about the unborn, yet stand in the way and allow tens of millions of Americans already living among them to endure needless suffering because of lacking insurance. Another thing…The House plan does not cover the illegal alien or is out to kill Grandma, so don’t jump on that band wagon.

On Friday, Democrats moved one step closer to giving free health insurance to the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal aliens when they successfully defeated a Republican-backed amendment, offered by Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., that would have prevented illegal aliens from receiving government-subsidized health care under the proposed plan backed by House Democrats and President Barack Obama.
The House Ways and Means Committee nixed the Heller amendment by a 26-to-15 vote along straight party lines, and followed this action by passing the 1,018-page bill early Friday morning by a 23-to-18 margin, with three Democrats voting against the plan.
The Democratic plan will embrace Obama’s vision of bringing free government medical care to more than 45 million uninsured people in America – a significant portion of whom are illegal aliens.
