The Ward 4 Barnesville city council race now boasts four candidates after general contractor Bobby York qualified this morning. York, 58, lives at 107 Honeysuckle Drive.
He joins Neal Devane, Calvin Scandrett and Larry Whitworth in the race that will almost assuredly lead to a runoff.
Ward 2 incumbent Chris Hightower also qualified this morning. Hightower, 41, is an educator who lives at 111 B Street. Hightower and fellow incumbent Butch McDaniel of Ward 5 have not yet drawn opposition. Qualifying ends Wednesday.

I'm happy to see Robert Neal DeVane run for office in the city. He has much knowledge of city affairs and I know without question that he could be a tremendous asset.

Absolutely not. DeVane would serve the city well because he can't be corrupted. Those of you that have thoughts otherwise don't understand how serious he can be and how seriously your concerns that he would make his own working for you. If you have questions or concerns - air them out right now. "Surely you jest....." doesn't say anything other than you don't know what he is capable of.
