Barnesville played host to its own Tea Party yesterday held in Ritz park. The grass was full, signs were carried and speakers were in no shortage.
One of those speakers was Robert (Bob) Heiney who began his oration with a stringent claim against global warming citing it as a tool used to put Cap and Trade down the public's throat.

THEY IS NO GLOBAL WARMING. I believe there will always
be a shift of tempertures. Some winters are colder
than others and some summers are hotter than others.
Actually, It's really only the few oddballs that will go along with anything close to an Al Gore disaster scenario.
Also noted is how many of the official weather stations reporting the temperature have been located in not so desireable locations. Some have been at the end of runways right in the jetblast of jets taking off. Others have been observed between buildings directly under exhaust vents from air conditioners.
'98 was the warmest global temp out of the 30 years of accurate satellite data that we have so far, in the last 11 years we have cooled back to near the bottom end of that record? This in negative correlation with the largest increase in industrial Co2 emission ever.
Co2 causes cooling?
If legislation is passed giving government regulatory powers to try to control this myth, it will be yet another burden on our freedoms that will tax everyone more, and grow the government more to "administer" it, while the rest of the world continues with business as usual.
Facts are different. An overwhelming majority of scientists agree global warming is caused by CO2 level increases. Factually, it is only very few who go against the majority opinion.
Things work the way they work, and opinions or votes or hysterical crowds cannot and will not change the facts.
I remember in the 50's we thought we could dump anything we wanted in the lakes or oceans. We nearly killed the Great Lakes, and we now have thousands of square miles of ocean that are destroyed by plastic. I'm sure if we "polled" the good people of the world very few would think plastic bottles could alter large areas of the ocean, but they have.
Think about this. The air we can breathe is only about two miles thick. It is an egg shell in delicate balance. We know for a fact the portion that filters the earth from UV rays and affects infrared radiation into and out of our planet has significantly changed in composition because of mankind.
It is tough for some to calm down and learn how the system actually works, but we are already in big trouble. The only dispute about this is how much trouble we are in and if we can fix it. There really is no dispute among scientists all over the world (except for the few oddballs that always turn up) we are in trouble.
You set this fire........what do you think? I know you have an interest in green technology.....there has to something to what sparked your concern.
I do have a large interest - scientifically, spiritually and academically - in our environment and the preservation of our planet.
My thoughts on global warming will no doubt be seen as hippy, tree-hugging, liberal, rehashed propaganda. But I believe we are stewards of this ball we call Earth and we are to take care of it as best we can. Pollution, gaseous poisoning, waste, etc are not new to humans. We have been slowly destroying our world quicker than we have been trying to renew it.
Mind you, I am no scientist. I am not geologist. Neither am I a politician. I am a photojournalist and part-time homesteader. I can only speak from what I read, what I have researched and what I feel is true.
The IPCC has in fact confirmed that the global surface temp has increased during the last century due to greenhouse gas which are a direct result of fossil fuel (non-renewable energy) use, deforestation, solar radiation and, yes, even our very existence post-Industrial revolution.
I also think that global warming is more than just a term created by Al Gore in 1988. I think by now we all know he is a bit of a hypocrite and a glory hound. Afterall, he is also the man who claimed to have invented the Internet.
As best as I can tell Cap and Trade is not such a bad idea. Limiting the amount of emitted greenhouse gases by industry is wise for the atmosphere and our health. Trade is a bit more suspicious as we are talking about our planet and not some dime store baseball cards. I think Cap and Trade sparks competitiveness and ingenuity of the industrial marketplace to reduce emissions and become more efficient, cost-effective businesses. This is where it gets complex though. I am not convinced that the government is responsible enough nor has the right to create a new commodity such as the right to emit carbon and then mandate who can buy it, how much they pay for it, etc. It is obvious that this sort of mandate trickles all the way down the economy to even our local grocery store baggers. The average working family would not benefit from such a tax in any way. But I digress.
If anyone wants to buy me coffee and talk it all out....I am up for it. Otherwise, that is all I have to say....for now.
I also believe that it is hiding from evidence to say that all our pollution from industrial society is not having an effect on the environment. Pumping large amounts of substances into the atmosphere obviously will cause changes. I personally think our pollution is probably adding to or speeding up the cycle.
That said, like the old quote "You can't go home again" implies once we have seen the luxuries of technology who is going to go without? Do we actually expect third world countries to stop growing and improving because of pollution as we once polluted during our growth stage.
This problem would require a paradigm change in the way humans view our place in the world (as the top of the food chain with all this just provided here for us) and live our lives, and that has not happened in recorded history and ain't about to start how.
It isn't.

Gore circles the globe spreading mistruths on his 'Global Warming Fiction World Tour'.
Tons of CO2 are spewed into the atmosphere from his old jet plane and is converted into gasses. But, Gore isn't concerned. He will make it all right with the environmentalist activist crowds by purchasing "carbon offsets" through Generation Investment Management.
Gore is one of the founders of this emissions trading company, which in reality is a Cap and Trade affair dealing in global warming.
Gore is a double and triple business dipper. He receives obscene remuneration for his many "Chicken Little" presentations to the gullible and misinformed attendees of his speeches, movies and book signings.
Gore is supported and idolized by many of the
card carrying fringe element in the dubious environmental-activist wing of the climatology community. Al Gore won a Nobel Prize with the complicity of his many "business" partners comprised of countries and individuals. They realize that enormous wealth is to be made by participating in his business model.
Unless there are individuals on this blog with credible scientific backgrounds, only personal opinions that reveal how much or how little we know about Global Warming can be offered.
I suggest EVERYONE familiarize themselves with both sides of the issue by being informed.
Simply Googling key words such as "emissions trading, "carbon footprint", "carbon offset", global warming", ,"Kyoto Protocol", "gashouse emissions","cap and trade", "Generation Investment Management", will assist in which side of the Global Warming fence you fall.

We can find the occasional nut case or crackpot who claims we have lots of oil and has witnessed a conspiracy, but they are generally the same fools who think we never put a man on the moon or the Government is spying on us all.
It is also very well documented global warming is real and man is a significant part of the reason. The only real debate is whether we are almost all of the cause or just a large portion of it. Once again it is just the occasional crackpot who claims otherwise.
Pretending we don't have a problem won't make problems we have go away.

Scientist thrive by making buzz words for what they find, that way everyone will be saying it, example: "Carbon Footprint". and they become famous amoung their peers.
By the way, after 30 years in the cyrogenics business, I did learn that the temperature of liquid CO2 is minus 800 degrees farenheit.
and the gas is has a lesser but similar temperature.
For those of you who work in fast food, the co2 has frost on it

Pass Cap and Trade and we will be paying for all the products to be made overseas where they gave the US of A the old finger without it. It just depends on who you want to listen to. There's as much info to dispute it as there is to back it up.

The facts, as understood by 97% of scientists deeply involved in long term climate changes, disagree with your "feelings".
My background is electrical engineering, specifically with electromagnetics and high speed analog circuitry, and I see similar things in my comfort zone. There can be a large number of non-experts or partial experts who strongly support a concept that is just absolutely wrong, but if we look at those who work in that specific area constantly and understand everything in great detail nearly 100% of misplaced notions go away.
One example is with electromagnetic fields. many "casual experts" believe a time-varying electric field can be isolated from a time-varying magnetic field, but they can not. Just like global warming, as we move toward more experienced people in that specific area suddenly something that appears debatable to casual people has no debate.
I've seen this countless times in my life.
When we look at global warming we find the more educated and experienced scientists are in that area, the more they align with the belief we are at least in large part responsible for the changes.
When an overwhelming majority (97%) of experienced educated people in a particular discipline agree, and when the trend is the more direct experience they have they more likely they agree, the odds of an error are virtually nonexistent.
George W. Bush and his team asked for reports on global warming, then they altered those reports to make them much less firm about the cause. This is why we can't trust any politician or political rally for critical information.
97% of experts in a field is a significant number that is not trumped by feelings or politics or focusing on Al Gore's mistakes. We are in trouble, the only real debate is if it is fixable or not and how to fix it.
I humbly request that you provide these sources independant of NPR, CNN, ABC, NBC,MSNBC, New York Times. Citizens with various educational levels are able to ascertain the above mentioned media outlets are in league with the current White House administration by censoring or restraining news and scientific opinions not compatible with obama and his comrades. My opinion!

The USA is one of the very few nations in the world, if not the only one, where a significant number of common citizens dispute scientific results by experts in long term climate changes.
Even the DOE, in the Bush years, said we have a problem.

Global Warming analogy:
If a scientist made an intended claim that the sun rose in the West and set in the East,
there would not be 100% disagreement among the populous. There will NEVER be 100% consensus in the Global Warming debate.
I will avail myself to the abstract thinking process by adopting a 'WAIT AND SEE' position and refrain from further commentary regarding Global Warming.
I will 'WAIT and SEE' if Earth reaches the Global Warming tipping point of a 9 degree temperature increase when Earth's population will be devastated. This doomsday event will happen according to German climate researcher, Hans Joachim Schellnhuber.
If I 'WAIT' too long and 'SEE' this inferno happen, an admission that I was misguided will be left for the Global Warming espousers.

Right now you know we are going through an extended minimum of solar activity. The length and depth of this minimum is unheard of in recent history, and it usually results in a slight cooling of the earth. Instead, we have an uptick.
Maybe God is making one last attempt to help us correct the damage we are doing by squandering the treasure of energy he gave us, and that self-interest has caused us to squander.
When we think that the trend now should be cooling, and instead long term we have a spike, it is something worth thinking about. It might be time to click off of Fox News and shut off the millionaires who made their money stirring up people with lies, and look at the actual data sources without the filtering of any news media.
If you do that, you will see the solar activity (which has a small effect) has been decreasing cycle after cycle, and now appears to have parked on a minimum. You will find the mean temperature of our planet is rising with a pretty sharp spike, when in all other similar periods it has fallen.
Scholarly research papers published by researchers all over the world almost 100% disagree with Fox News.
Your argument was not articulated in a cognizant manner for us "illogical thinkers" to easily comprehend on basic merits.

The planets are aligning in the center of the galaxy. The Mayans astrological charts are every bit as accurate as our present day. They have predicted (Chinese too) changes as we near the date of Dec 21, 2012. Nobody knows what is going to happen and we near the date but increased solar activity is know to be one of the things that will happen. It will be at its peak at or near that date. If we have another ice age then it was meant to be. I’m predicting the north and south will continue to melt away – the Earth’s rotational axis is going to shift. Then we will start cooling back down. Nobody knows when the end of time will be as it will be in the bible. Perhaps it will come before or after. The best advice is to be ready when it does come and leave the care of Earth to God.
