The first wrestling match in Barnesville since 1974 came into town Saturday night attracting 721 adults and children to the gate.

Hosted by the Lamar County recreation department and sponsored by Top Rope Entertainment, the evening saw WWE legends such as Indestructible Jay Batista, One Warrior Nation, The Nature Boy Chic Donovan and hometown favorite Big Steel.

if this show was a hit...why did the legal offices of wwe contact joey roberts about using the names of warrior and batista...and mr roberts did not have permission to use the nwa name..and plus the titles they won(steel and jay)dont exist according to bill berhans of the nwa offices?

Hey Bro... Jay Batista & Steel are not with the Bill Behrans offices that is the Ga Chapter...not the Carolinas Chapter and yes they are the Carolinas Chmaps and for the comment of the WWE office contacting Mr. Roberts.... yes they did contact him but for only using the WWE logo without there permission not for the names...who ever u are that wrote this u are the trash that give this buisness a bad name and also trash like u are the reason
why Barnsville and surronding areas caint have nothing in there town!!!

why does it keep saying that this is the first match here since 1974. I was born in early 80s and i remember going to matches for years where the "gathering place" is now.

I don't get into this stuff, but I loved seeing the look on my kids faces!! It was all worth it!! Can't wait until the next one!!

The show looks like it was a lot of fun; however, the "Warrior" and "Batista" were just imposters! LOL

I've followed wrestling for years, and I went out to the show Saturday night. The guy billed as "Batista" is actually Jay Batista. The WWE star is Dave Batista. The "Warrior" was in fact the old WWE/(WWF) star The Ultimate Warrior. He just has an extra 20-some-odd years of wear & tear on him.

OMG!! This should have been about the kids and giving them something to look forward to. Kids say there is nothing to do.....Well, something comes for them to have a place to go and the Adults still bash them!! WTF?? You ppl are nothing but 2~faced!! Grow~up and get jobs!!

I had to leave early and didn't get to see if Goober was ok. He took a vicious shot to the face that would have put most men in the hospital. He showed what kind of man he really is by standing up to that trashy trio of thugs. I called the hospitals in the area and nobody had heard of "Goober" but they will.

Realize people, this is "entertainment" for the sake of making money. I do know most of the people reading this will not belive what I say, but hopefully some will understand.
These guys are a form of actor. Most are in incredible shape and are great athletes. They are also good friends behind closed doors.
The question "Is it fake?", yes and no. You can't fake the falls and hits, but you can learn how to do them without getting hurt. Blood is also real, but most of the time done on purpose. The outcome of each match is planned and usually how the win will be completed.I'll stop there, but it is all done for entertainment purposes.
I speak from being involved in the industry since the early 1970's, not just someone who does not approve of this type of roll model for our youth...another blog all together.

First time pro wrestling has been in Barnesville since the 70's? I wrestled at the Barnesville high scool a few years ago. Joey Roberts gets caught in Yet another lie. He has NEVER wrestled for the NWA and NEVER will. After all the fans got ripped off I bet they don't come back. That wasn't even the real Warrior. Ant idiot that was there could see that.
