Tucked away in the backyard of Scott Cone's Lamar County home is an explosion of color cultivated through hours of love and labor.
Cone grows dahlias, a bushy perennial originally cultivated by the Aztecs for food, ceremony and decorative purposes. They bloom in August through late October or early November.
A few select blooms.
In growing dahlias stock is everything…..all else is knowing what to do and when to do it. Listed below are a few I recommend for first time growers:
Verda, Zorro, Kidd’s climax, Clara Huston, Hy Clown.
I would be more than happy to answer any questions that may help in your effort.
Best regards.
