Trojans, Cavs atop region standings

Trojan Field will host the biggest game in its short history October 9 when Lamar County hosts the Callaway Cavaliers. The two teams are atop the region standings at 3-0.

Lamar is 4-1 overall while the Cavs are 3-2.

At this point of the season, it looks like there are still 5 teams in position to claim one of the 4 playoff spots. Three of them -- Manchester, Pike Co., & Heard Co. -- already -- have one region loss. Looks like the Trojans can afford only one more loss on the season to finish in the top 4. But, that's not a given, as anything can happen to upset the apple cart. Good luck, and finish strong...

On Friday, Oct 9, Lamar Co will host the biggest high school football game held here in a long time at the new Trojan Stadium. The Trojans will play Callaway with both teams undefeated in the region. We urge you to get there early and tailgate and make it an atmosphere like one never felt before here. Hopefully we can get the band and cheerleaders out early for a pre-game pep rally and maybe even the players to enter the stadium to a "Trojan walk". Wear your blue, get your thundersticks from the booster club and make as much noise as you can possible muster up as the Trojans SHAKE DOWN THE THUNDER!!!

The defending region champ is coming to Barnesville Oct 9th. Biggest football game in Lamar County in a while! We need a HUGE crowd!!!

I know my family will be there in our Lamar County Pride Blue! We need to bring the blue thunder back to the field like the night we played Spalding! We can do this but we need everyone's support!

"Callaway can name the score. They are too big and too fast. Lamar has played a very easy schedule so far. But any team can win on any given night. Callaway will be down by 2TD. All the officials have Lamar county tags."

Callaway rolled over Jordan 52-12 last night. They are gonna come in here ready to settle the question of who is first place in region. Should be a very good game! Hope Strickland gets LC pumped and ready to go! He's had 2 weeks to prepare them...we should be ready for every play Callaway can pull out of its playbook!!!

I believe that this will be Lamar's first chance to prove they are forreal this year as well as Callaway. Both teams have had fairly easy games thus far, however Lamar County has shown a much larger margin of improvement. The team has taken such large strides and i'm very proud to say i helped with that, i'm just not there for the fun part of it. Callaway football is a very athletic program but they are showboats and individuals.... If the LC D can stop #1 #2 and #3 then i say a solid, impressive victory 27-10

FOX 5 is coming to Barnesville tommorow. The Lamar-Callaway game has been made one of the top 10 games to watch in the state of Georgia. And rightfully so.
