FNB suspect charged in Concord bank robberies

The man charged with last week's robbery of an FNB branch in Griffin has now been charged with two similar robberies at a bank in Concord.

William Lee Hunt Jr., 27, of Woodbury in neighboring Meriwether County is charged with multiple robbery counts.

Pike County investigators obtained two armed robbery arrest warrants for Hunt charging him with two holdups at the First Bank of Pike in Concord last year, Pike sheriff Jimmy Thomas said. Those robberies occurred on September 30 and November 24.

The sheriff noted his detectives worked with Griffin police and the FBI after a similar bank robbery occurred at the First National Bank in Griffin on Thursday, Oct. 1. In the Griffin incident, Hunt allegedly exchanged gunfire with a bank employee. No one was hurt in the Concord heists.

"The suspect's vehicle was recovered (the day after the Griffin robbery), after being reported by a neighbor, parked behind a vacant residence in Spalding County," Thomas said. "At the time of the vehicle's recovery evidence relating to the armed robberies in Pike County was found."

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Hunt's Woodbury home and captured him inside.

"Additional evidence relating to his involvement in the bank robberies was also recovered from his residence," Thomas said.

Mistakes come in many forms under stress and worry for your family. All remember,,,,!!!!!,,,,Man is innocent until proven otherwise. He will be supported by many until then. If a mistake or bad choices were made Im sure Man will step up and do what it takes to make his life and family better and take full responsibility for his actions.

this dude was a outstanding athlete at manchester middle and high school farther and mother are well respecting citizens of meriwether county for a young man 27 years of age that lost his way to provide for his family is sad. we here in this small community know what type of man mr william hunt jr was please dont judge this mans hold life on a mistake or a lack of judgemnet. we here have been feeling the wrath of a stell economy for many many years losing your jobe here means losing your soul, wat ever is nescarry to survive is done to survive.not justifying what william did by no means but ask urself this question what would you have done to keep food on the table and the lights on you never know til you in the dark prey for this man and his family nobody got hurt but him and his have some compassion for a lost soul pry for william niasha and the kids

To everyone who only has negative things to say: try praying for this man's family instead. I'm sure they are having a very difficult time dealing with this. It's also wrong for any of you to judge this man's character based on information that you only know from reading an article in the newspaper. Everyone makes mistakes at some point, and unfortunately for him, this choice he made is forever going to change his life and his family's. No matter what you think of him or his actions, keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

in my opinion, you did what you had to do to take care of you and yours. as long as u felt that was the only solution to your problems be at ease with that in no way am i saying that that was the best solution, but from 1 man to another whether we may have had differences,I myself know how it feels to wonder on how u are going to provide when options are limited. My praires is out to you and your family at this trying time. stay up
