Much to the shock and surprise of the free world, Nobel officials in Oslo, Norway announced the winner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Price early this morning for "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

The winner, of course, was United States president Barack Obama.

The committee cited his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation.

Well this gives a new meaning to the word "Nobel". There's nothing nobel about Obama, nothing peaceful either for that matter. Maybe to the Nobel Committee the word nobel means "corrupt".

Yes, "Corrupt Peace Prize" seems more suitable for Obama.

What a slap in the face to those who truly deserve an award for their truly nobel efforts. Their "prize" means nothing now, it's just a worthless coin.

I have been, and still am, an avid Obama supporter. This being said, I can not believe he won the Nobel Peace Prize. It is too soon to award him something of this magnitude. I'm not exactly sure what "Peace" the prize is given to Obama for achieving.

@#2 - I think you were referring to the word noble rather than Nobel as the Nobel Peace Prize is one of five Nobel Prizes bequeathed by the Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel.

You are right though in it being a slap in the face for those more deserving of the award. In fact, a criticism of the peace-prize are the notable omissions, namely the failure to award individuals with widely recognized contributions to peace. The list includes Mahatma Gandhi, Pope John Paul II, César Chávez, Oscar Romero, Jose Figueres Ferrer, Steve Biko, Raphael Lemkin, Abdul Sattar Edhi, and Irena Sendler.

I never considered Obama the beast but with his ability to deceive the masses, it’s almost worth reconsidering. I honestly still believe that he is a closet muslim and he will build them up over the next few years. He may not be the anti Christ but he is one of his workers. He is helping set the foundation ever so gracefully to build on.

"While acknowledging that many of the president’s policies had yet to produce results, Mr Lundestad said it was hoped the award would help advance his agenda".

Well now, His award was made due to his "commitment" not on any of his "actions".
