Fighting foreclosures: a lose-lose situation?

Foreclosure filings are occurring every 13 seconds in this country.

And government programs to fight the foreclosure crisis look increasingly inadequate and should be reworked and supplemented with new ideas.

I have no answer but this- even if you're mortgage lender tells you that you qualify for a $200,000.00 home, is that a payment you'd be comfortable with?
We home buyers have a responsibility to ourselves to make sure that we don't become "house poor" by going out of our comfort zones.
On the other hand, there is that huge problem of unemployment.
The house next to me is a foreclosed home. In that case, the owner didn't want to go through the hassle of cleaning it up and selling it, so she just decided to walk away from it. I find that irresponsible and disrespectful of those of us who were her neighbors for all these years. She has reduced our home values and left us with an eyesore.

Buyers were convinced by the lender that to buy a house in which was outside their comfort zone was a smart investment because of what the home would bring on the open market in five years. If they put every nickel they had or could make into the mortgage they were assured a greater return which would be well worth the sacrifice. What they found to be true in five years they were upside down in the mortgage with no way out of the investment. With cost of living constantly going up, wages flat lined and the astronomical increase in job lost, it’s no wonder folks are just walking away from the homes. I pride myself in my financial responsibility and independence although place no judgment towards those found in such predicament. To be one of the lucky ones is mere the grace of God.

Well maybe if people would realize that borrowing or lending money with interest is a mortal sin we would not be in this predicament, Just read Ezekiel 18:13. There are many more in the Bible but I like this one the best.

So you're saying we should save up 150K which could take 25 years before buying a home to raise a family.

the one i like best from the bible is exodus 21-7. says you can sell your daughter as a servent.nice book ain't it.ther are many more but this one comes to mind

From what I have read the federal programs are there but major lenders (Mega-banks) are refusing to play ball (institute the programs) because it is not in their interest to do so. It’s too easy to pass their losses on to the taxpayer. I am just astonished that so many have no idea who runs this government. It’s not the citizens or the legislators but the mega-banks. Welcome to capitalism. If you think it’s government that is taking over your life you have no idea who the government is.

Obama lies. It's not the end of the world. December 21, 2012. Earthquakes or a tsunami or a valcano or a nuclear or global cooling or asteroid? No global warming. NASA sees start of new solar cycle. Not because of the sun, because of our own governments. So, there is nothing to worry about doomsday. or not to worry about 2012. The Mayas never said. They never said anything bad. The Mayas never dreamed of.

For those who feel compelled to sign their comments as "ANONYMOUS" Read on!... Here is a solution offered by my old friend, Harold Gazete.

Numerous commentaries signed as, ANONYMOUS, favors THG readership with sincere and thought provoking keyboard messages.

Sadly, many of those particulary adept keyboard pecked comments are mixed with a cacophony of postings squawked out by a gaggle of cooped up peckers using their ANONYMOUS signatures.

The real prized "peckers of punditry" need to be culled from this molting 'Flock Of Anonymity' so their keyboard missives can easily be recognized.

An appropriate "pen name" affixed at the end of their pecked pieces will signify proud pecking ownership and clip the wings of ANONYMOUS.

Non-prized peckers are urged to remain with their cooped keyboards and continue to use 'ANONYMOUS' signatures in order to allow their foul scratchings to be quickly dismissed by the Herald Gazette readership.

All ANONYMOUS prosing peckers can be zipped comfortably into place.

As INDIVIDUAL peckers, they are permitted to hang out and use any of my never utilized nom de plumes. The literary keyboard peckers are then freed from the 'Anonymous Peckers Coop' and can strut and roam the blog enclosure without being looked down on as simply, ANONYMOUS .

The ANONYMOUS signatories should create a name to personalize their style OR borrow any of my private and unused 'pen' names listed below:

Thanks for the reply and my apologies for the misspelling of your name. Spelling has never been one of my strong points. To answer your question in which has “honestly” and “God” capitalized. It has taken me many years, literally reading hundreds of books, thousands of hours of group discussion, as well as, countless moments of contemplation to find an understanding of the word God that presently works for me. I use the word for what it brings to me, in ways that I find even more difficult to put into words. The use and understand of the word without any reservation has enriched my life so, that it was well worth, the sometimes painful journey required to bring the meaning to the word. Are your talents a gift from God, is a question only you can answer for yourself. I believe mine are, but not in a way most choose to think it to be and that’s OK to.

Human un-interest story:

An old neighbor of mine at Last Stop Nursing Home was visited by his 10 year old grandson last week. When I was introduced to the surly lad, he immediately beamed, "are you the REAL calling all cars"? "Yep, the one and only", I smiled, thinking he might have heard of my numerous past exploits of a bygone era.

To my chagrin, the precocious pup proudly presented:

Colin Allcars is a character in the Grand Theft Auto Series who appeared as a multiplayer character in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. Allcars is a motorcycle police officer and resides in Vice City in 1984. His name is a take on a radio transmission, 'calling all cars'.

about 10 years are less Barney Franks a powerful congressman said that minority was not qualifying for Freddie May or Freddie Mac Longs. He went before congress and asked for the qualifications for loans to be lowered and they did. People were buying homes left and right no down payments on balloon notes with high payments. Later the economy got bad and people began to lose their homes because they couldnt make the payments. Republicans went before congress and asked for this to be changed because they could see the problem that was going to happen. The Demicrat Congress with deaf ears and blind eyes would not correct the problem twice they tried to get the congress to do something about what they could see was going to be a serious problem, then again they would not. This is one of the problems that resulted in the downfall of the housing market along with the economy. Forclosers by the thousands by people who could not afford the homes in the begining, now congress has opened their eyes and cleaned their ears out and they have changed the qualifications of homes Seven years too late! Now who is to blame, for the forclosers, the economy or Demicrats

Not to change the subject, but I am. I went to eat Chinese food the other night. In my fortune cookie, on the back of the fortune, as you know, are suggested lotto numbers. Mine had a duplicated number. Can you believe it? That is my luck....I got a misfortune cookie!
