Social Security announces no COLA

The Social Security Administration makes it official today: There will be no cost of living increase for Social Security recipients next year, the first year without one since automatic adjustments were adopted in 1975.

The announcement comes as President Obama and key members of Congress call for a second round of $250 payments to more than 50 million seniors, veterans, retired railroad workers and people with disabilities.

(Is social security a farce anyway that is all too often exploited by those who don't really need the assistance?)

Social security has been coming out of my paycheck for the last 40 + years and when I become eligible it should not matter if I am in need of assistance. Just the accrued interest on the principle alone should be enough to support those in need.

$250 payments...another Obomination! When people are getting laid off, furloughed, taking pay cuts and more why should the formula for Social Security be changed?

A feeble attempt by obama to bribe "seasoned citizens" hoping they will forgot before the 2010 elections that he and his Socialist Chi-Oligarchy implemented his promise to "fundamentally change" America.

Hey Ms. Tolley! Since Ol' Enoc Sioul and I are "best buds forever",
it is only fitting that you should be my "little sister forever".

As a matter of fact, 'Keep The Change' would be a great title for my 6th book. But, there is a minor problem. Thomas McGuane has ALREADY written a witty family relations book by that name.

You have penned perfectly poignant prose, so, I will ask you. Do you THINK that I will win the Pulitizer Prize for my unnamed 6th. book?
I really value your opinion! Should I also ask Enoc for his opinion?

You see, my lack of writing ability certainly qualifies me to win that prestigious award.I have done absolutely NOTHING toward writing the aforementioned 5 books, but I have thought about writing them...at least twice. Do I have a chance? Can I win? Should I win? Huh? Huh? Huh?

obama won the Nobel for doing NOTHING. I do have a chance! I do!

I'm old and fragile, but, I have a Medicare Card and there is a nursing assistant here at Last Stop Nursing Home who watches General Hospital every day and she will take care of me. Under the ObamaCare Socialist Health Plan, some provisions will qualify her to provide Geriatric care. Don't you think?

I will write more later. I was in a sound sleep and some guy on a horse came by...Paul somebody....he kept yelling,"The illegals are coming, the illegals are coming." Now Moses knows that sentence and I am afraid when he drives to town to get my metamucil he will start yelling that to the "probably illegal" cashier. What should I do, Big Brother.

Don't worry about Moses you can manipulate him to 'come' around to his senses. Being a pretentious Psittacidae, Moses can be aroused to normal with a lot of very soft whispering in his ears.

Paul is being perveted by making premature climax announcements about coming illegals. As far as I know, all your neighbors have come legally. I heard that you and Moses have good relations with them.

I do not mean to spoil anyone's fun, but I think just last year the Social Security cost-of-living raise was 5.8 percent. That's a much better raise than most working people received, I think.

Au contraire! Not a BIG raise when placed in perspective, I think too.

+5.8% C.O.L.A increase on 2008 Social Security
- 3.1% premium increase on 2008 Medicare Part B
