Annual 'Bodacious Boston Butts' to be offered by Dugout Club

A cooked Boston Butt can be purchased from The Trojans Dugout Club by making a $25.00 donation to the Trojans Baseball Program. All proceeds will be utilized to provide the players & coaches with the best uniforms, equipment, & facilities available. Trojan Players, Coaches, & Dugout Club Members will begin accepting donations on Monday, Oct. the 19th.

A Trojan Player, or Dugout Club Member, will deliver the cooked butt(s) to patrons, if they are unable to pick them up. Cooking will begin on Wed., Nov. the 18th and will proceed thru Sat., Nov. the 21st.

Come on people, help out the baseball players. You won't be disappointed and your donation will help the player meet his $300 player package costs required of each player.

to play baseball at LCCH, you have to pay $300? what the heck is that all about. how much does it cost to play football and basketball?

also, i think it is ludicrous to use the word donation when your selling a product. "PURCHASE a boston butt for a DONATION" what an oxy-moron.

The baseball players are selling tickets. I'm sure you could contact Coach Williams at the middle school for more information.

No, you don't have to go to the school. Just get in contact with any Player, Coach, Dugout Club Member, or anybody that's familiar with this program. This is the 8th consecutive year that the Dugout Club has provided this service for the Lamar Co. Community. They will direct you to the sources necessary to make a donation. And, you will get a delicious Boston Butt for your efforts. You will be glad that you did... We even deliver, if you can't pick them up.

Or, another great way of making a donation is to purchase a Boston Butt(s) from one of the Players, Coaches, or DOC members, and give it to a needy family for the Thanksgiving Holidays. The Butts will be ready for delivery on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday -- Nov. 19th, 20th, & 21 st. Thanksgiving falls on Thursday -- Nov. 26th.

To #1.1, It doesn't cost $300.00 to play baseball for the High School. That is how much it cost to get all the equipment needed per player. The DOC is self funded thus the reason we do fundraisers throughout the year. Thank you.

Oh yes it does cost $300 to play high school baseball. Obviously you haven't read over what was sent home with your child along with the Boston Butt tickets. It says "If a player does not sell at least 20 tickets he will be responsible for paying for his player package and fees that total $300.00, even if you sell 19 butts you will be responsible for all costs."

Do you pay $300 to play or do you get anything for paying the $300? I beleive you get a bat bag, batting gloves, wood bat, hat, shirt, shorts, sleeves, cleats, turfs, socks, and belts. $300 for the equipment they use to play baseball.

Yes, they get all that and they have a great field to play on,and nice facilities, too. I don't have a problem with the fee. I don't understand what all the defensiveness is about the fee. Geeze. Please, people, buy a Boston Butt from your favorite baseball player or Dugout Club member and support the Diamond Trojans at large. Then in the spring, come on out and support them with your presence at the games. You won't be disappointed in the Boston Butt and you won't be disappointed in the Diamond Trojans.

That package -- bat bag, batting gloves, wood bat, hat, shirt, shorts, sleeves, cleats, turfs, socks, & belt -- would cost the players in the neighborhood of $500.00, if they had to go out and buy those items retail. $300.00 for all of that is a heck of a deal. And, they have first class equipment, uniforms, & facilities -- something that all involved should take pride in... The proceeds from the Boston Butts offset most, if not all, of those costs. The players appreciate and take care of them better, when their sweat equity goes into financing them. Earning what you get is one of life's important lessons.

It costs the baseball booster club approximately $300 per player each year to provide uniforms and equipment. The coach does not charge a fee to play. It is not rec ball. People need to lose that mentality. These players are fortunate to have first class equipment and facilities without having to pay one penny out of their pocket. Each player (and player's parents) is giving the opportunity to fund raise for all of their needs. They just have to go out and do a little work for it.

The Boston Butt fundraiser is for the sole purpose of raising funds to offset the cost of the program and reward players for selling at least 20. The coach doesn't make anyone pay to play. If the player only sells 19 then he isn't rewarded by the booster club w/ cleats, etc... he must provide his own. Its that simple and reasonable.

This is the whiner..what do the footall players pay..oh whatever happen to those high dollar warm up suits they bought 2 years ago. In the meantime we furlough our teachers

A successful football program can and should be self-supportive. Gate receipts can be used for team needs, paying officials, and such. Some football money also is probably even used to help support other sports. Most other sports except basketball do not have enough gate receipts to meet their needs therefore they do fund raisers to support their programs. Athletic programs have to be self supportive, TAX DOLLARS cannot be used to fund athletics. Furloughing teachers has nothing to do with money raised for ahtletics or SPLOST FUNDS.

This would be a great site if we could get rid of the trolls & idiots who have no clue what in the hell they are talking about!!

my son is a middle school football player and will be trying out for the baseball team this year. we dont mind at all participating in a fundraiser. he has sold 20 boston butts just in one weekend. i think it is wonderful that our community is willing to give their time, money and support for our chldren. sports give kids something to look forward to and discipline and pride. when you support your children they will return the favor when they become adults and parents! thank you everyone for your support!

Wow--20 butts sold in just one weekend. Congratulations on doing a great job! Our goal is to sell 600 butts overall. If there are 30 kids in the program, and they all sell 20 butts a piece, then presto there's the 600. It's very doable. Trojans Baseball -- CATCH THE FEVER!!!

Try making Brunswick Stew with a smoked Boston Butt as one of the ingredients. And, add a little Texas Pete Hot Sauce for spice. It is unbelievably good!!!
