The American Legion Auxiliary brought together female soldiers from different generations, wars and backgrounds at the women veterans’ banquet Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Women veterans feted at banquet
Seven soldiers with ties to Lamar County talked about their service over a meal prepared by Auxiliary members. Navy veteran Elizabeth Sellers, Air Force veterans Geraldine Pippin, Edwina Shannon and Ruth Ann Manley, Women Army Corps veteran Reba Mangham, Army Desert Storm veteran Donna Hooks and Marine veteran and Army Reserve 1st Lt. Menza Ogletree-Brown, took turns telling about their experiences.
