The Lamar County Trojans lost a heartbreaker to the Heard County Braves 18-17 tonight at Trojan Field. The loss heavily damaged hopes of hosting a first round playoff game at Trojan Field.

In homecoming festivities at halftime, Santae World was named homecoming queen for 2009. (video after the jump)

A poster on the GAVSV is reporting that HC won 18-17 on a TD & 2-point conversion. If true, that's a heartbreaker!

Lamar's defense played pretty well tonight, but had trouble with getting off the field. Heard only had three Athletes, QB, RB, and WR #1 it was enough to keep lamar off balance though.
Lamar should have done a much better job on their last possession. Better field presence by Lamar's QB would have resulted in 4th and short instead of 4th and long, He bombed a prayer on 3rd down despite having turned the corner on the far sideline and having the 1st down marker in his sights. The offense was just inept in general this evening, not all the QB's fault, he played a decent game, but the plays that got Lamar in trouble were the screens that took too long to develop and the zone reads that the QB delayed to long in making a decision with. Lamar was caught far too many times in the backfield on hand-offs, the one that hurt the most was a fumbled hand off on an end around with a wide receiver which Heard recovered in Lamar territory and led to Heard's first score.

Amen brother, you've got it right. But the guys need to keep their heads up and finish the season strong. Pike lost to Jordan tonight so Lamar should make the playoffs no matter what. Go Trojans!!!!

Folks, I have been in this county for a long time. I have seen team after team play. This year has absolutely pumped this community up. "Suddenly it Changes" has authority when we talk to family that may or may not live near us. We can talk about football with pride and I am a proud fan of these warriors. I know that the players are disappointed with the loss. That is natural, but tonight I saw some real smash mouth football. It was the kind of football that keeps you coming back for more. I saw guys busting their rear ends trying to take a prize. Lamar County should be proud!
We have a fantastic group of intense coaches, an incredible group of kids on the field, a gridiron club that works their fingers off, and a future that looks very promising. I am looking forward to the playoffs this year. We will make it, and we will deserve it. Thanks Trojans for making Fridays exciting and rewarding. I am proud of you!

As disappointing as tonight's loss was, we should all still be very proud of the Trojans for playing with grit and determination. Two games left in the regular season and still a lot to play for. Callaway stands atop the region right now at 6-0. They, in all likelihood, will win the region and top seed in the state playoffs. Manchester is second at 5-1. Lamar and Heard are 4-3 with the Braves getting the head to head with tonight's win. However, Heard plays Callaway next week and the Cavs will surely take care of business and drop Heard behind Lamar who will be taking care of business in Pike County. Manchester plays Jordan and should get a win there. Which would set up 6-1 Manchester coming to town to play the Trojans who would be 5-2. A Lamar win ties the two schools record-wise but the Trojans would get the second seed and a home playoff game due to head to head. It's just starting to get fun folks. See you in Zebulon next Friday.

The Trojan coaching staff has done a tremendous job getting things turned around and going in the right direction but we were plain and simply outcoached last night. For whatever reason the Trojans just looked like they played flat and weren't ready last night. Defense played very well for the amount of time they were on the field. Offense was stagnant and the play calling was horrible, a dive play, a pass outside, or all 4 receivers just took off running and we threw a hail mary. Do you guys know we can use the middle of the field on pass plays? Good luck the rest of the way, win the last 2 and we can shake down the thunder for a playoff game!!

Yeah I agree. They were blitzing up the middle all 2nd half and the middle was wide open. Some quick slants would have been perfect.

Callaway can not be the No. 1 seed in the state playoffs as they lost to Lovett From 6AA the first of the season by the score of 56 to 28.. Lovett should win state AA with not much of a problem from a very tough region.

What? Callaway will ne the No. 1 seed in our region. The top four teams make it to the playoffs. Only your region record counts to make it. Callaway's loss to Lovett means nothing in relation to Callaway being a number one see.

I don't think Callaway will be #1 see in the play-offs. They will be #1 in Region 5AA. As #1 from Region 5AA, they will play #4 from Region 8AA.

The Trojans remind me of that 2nd class school with the Mutt as the mascot. They get all of their loyal fans pumped up for a terrific season only to disappoint time after time! Hey Big Tech, there is nothing big about you. Your little weak ACC conference makes Yech look good when the "so called" best team is Virginia Tech who got beat by an SEC team and your pathetic school, whom, that lost to a supposedly good Miami team that just got beat by Clemson. Clemson is no better than South Carolina which is only good enough to be 3rd best in the East of the SEC. Let's face it, you beat UGA once in 7 tries and crack the top 15 for the first time in almost 20 years and you think you're a national contender. LSU showed you last year you can't compete nationally. You will continue to be 2nd rate in this state, much less nationally, for another 20 years.

Best part of this are the insane loudspeakers at the football field.

I live two MILES from there and can hear the game announcer clearly.

Good to know the School Board wants everyone to know how all that tax money in being spent. Shame that after my 12 hour all night
Aldora shift, they had to run those things in the middle of the day last week.

Wonder what a 30.06 round would do to a speaker?

Wow! Yeah this poster is a complete idiot. I hope they understand that if something does happen then they will be the first one questioned. Not only will they be tracked by their IP address but also the poster can be identified pretty easily by the description he gave. the coaching staff are calling plays that is unnessary.there was no reason to try any trick plays to beat this team at least by three touchdowns.you do not have the speed on this team to run a reverse.stick to the same defense and stop switching them in and out as if it's the offense.heard county had nothing,their coach,s kept there plays simple.
