Amen! And eating all of that candy is nothing short of gluttony!!! When will people realize that any fun you have after dark is obviously the work of Satan?
Get over yourself. Do some reading and educate yourself. Halloween started out as a way to honor those that had passed on. In many cultures Halloween is still a way to honor those that have passed away because the dead may be gone but as long as we remember them they are not forgotten.
Just because people don't believe the same way you do doesn't make them wrong. Who are you to go about telling people they should be ashamed because they believe differently than you. Grow up and act like an adult instead of trying to push your views on everyone else.
Actually your wrong. You need to do some research. Halloween came from some people that believed once a year the dead people came back to life. They would say that you need to leave them a treat on the door stp or they would haunt you for the rest of your life. That is where trick or treat came from. Halloween is celebrating the death. I am not dead I am alive.
Where I see Satan is when someone judges others who are just enjoying a clean and wholesome tradition. You should stop listening to those literalistic zealous preachers and start thinking for yourself. What I observed on Thomaston Street is where a community was taking pleasure in a safe and creative activity. For someone to try to make it into something bad just shows what happens when we become blinded by unrealistic religious dogmas.
Hmmm, Listen to yourselves, I surely hope all you that knock the word of our living God has made your reservations, it sure is going to be crowded down there.
Remember to seek God first and foremost, and come as you are, he can help you.
God is a loving God, so say your heart is, he will always love you.
I have been taking my kids Trick or Treat on Thomaston street for quite a few years now.
I would like to thank the people who take the time to buy the candy, decorate the house and make Halloween a fun and enjoyable experience.
Halloween is not the devils work its secular unless u r a celtic pagan. Grow up bible thumpers. Be more scared what the cath. Priest does with ur lil kids
The Christian church actually had a hand in creating Halloween as we know it today - and that involvement dates back to the 7th century. Halloween (All Hallows' Eve...and 'hallow' means 'saint') is actually just the eve of All Saints' Day (Nov 1) - which is a day to remember before God all the souls (saints) who died in the previous year. So rather than being a "devil's holiday", Halloween is actually a mixture of pagan and Christian traditions. And for the vast majority of our modern society, it is nothing more than a secular celebration of fall and family.
And to the group I witnessed marching down Greenwood Street, carrying a huge cross & screaming "sinner, repent!" and various other things...do you really think that scaring little kids will make them more receptive to the messages of your faith? Why not try hosting an event at your church on Halloween (as many churches do)? Feed the hungry, offer fellowship to the hurting, show by example what God's love is all about. I'm betting that if Jesus walked among us today, THAT is what he'd do!
I have to say that if John the Baptist, Jesus carrying the cross, nine teenage angels, and four Israelite followers are scarier than werewolves, Michael Jackson's Thriller, ghosts and witches, then there is something wrong with our world.
Actually, halloween was a holiday created by the druids and celtics in honor of their sun god. They actually dressed up to ward off the spirits of the dead. It is not Christian oriented. Our Christian faith is built upon the word of God, The Holy Bible. What would Jesus think of this holiday? Probably cast out some demons.
"marching down the street screaming sinner- repent" you got to be kidding me!i'v heard some bull-butter in my 51 years but that takes the cake.ya'll neeed to quit listening to those so called preachers and start living YOUR OWN life
Jesus scared the Hell out of Halloween!! Sounds like He made the demons pretty mad too!
Sounds like that is one group of Christians with some backbone...about time we saw some!
People should be afraid of religous fanatics. How many people have died throughout history "in the name of God"? Christians have been one of the most violent groups in recorded history...I never heard of a Wican killing someone because they did not believe the same way. Maybe it has happened... I dont know...
Please do not judge Christ or His true church because of what a few zealots do. God's Word says in Matthew chapter 7 that you should beware of false prophets. These prophets will name the name of Christ and appear harmless but within they are ravening wolves...full of hatred and evil works. But it says that you will know the true prophets and children of God by the fruits that they bare. He says that any tree that doesn't bring forth good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So all of the so-called Christians who are using the name of Christ as an excuse to commit evil will be judged of God and will receive the same reward (or really punishment) as the ones who they are passing judgment on. This same passage of scripture goes on to assure us of this. It tells us that there will be many who ask Him didn't they do all of these things in His name and He will tell them to depart from Him - "ye workers of iniquity" - because He never knew them. Just know that among the false prophets and the churches that are nothing but social clubs and among those that call themselves Christians but continue to live in sin there are many true Christians who love God and are seeking Him. There are ones who love like Jesus did and want nothing more than to see all come to the knowledge of Christ. There are ones who are not in this for the money and who give so much more into the ministry than they ever receive. There are ones that you can trust. And these Christians love you enough to tell you that you are wrong....but they also love you enough to tell you the solution - His name is Jesus Christ!
I am a Christian and don't believe that it is God's Will to force my beliefs on anyone else. I too have fun on Halloween using that day to pretend to be someone else. Sometimes it nice to not have to be yourself and be able to have wholesome fun. My church puts up a tent every year to give out candy and tracks on Halloween. Does that mean we are bad because we use this holiday to share the Gospel not shove it down people's throats. For those that judge others based on how they believe, thats so not what the Bible tells us to do.
It is alarming at the amount of people that follow this obvious pagan holiday. TRUE Christians know what this holiday stands for and decide not to take part in such demonic traditions. I PRAY that God forgives the ignorance and SPEAKS to you and SHOWS you the evil that is associated with this "holiday".
hey i was one of those Jesus freaks we were just obeying God we love yall and hope to see u do good we will b glad to see u at our church Fellowship Restoration Church Jesus loves u and so do i
God Bless,
Joseph Truluck
I was a part of the group of "fanatics" walking down Thomaston St. No one acted in the least bit scared, several people were happy to see us, and yes some cussed us and yelled vulgar things. This was a group of pre-teens and teens who wanted to put Christ into a holiday that doesn't seem to have Christ in it. The actual words spoken by John the Baptist was "Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand" a quote from the Bible. What I don't understand is why that made people mad.The group gave out candy as they went. What it sounds like is that it is okay to dress up and pretend to be anything you want on Halloween as long as it is not Christian. These children did not speak out against anyone, the only thing that the group of angels said was "Jesus loves you, He died on the cross for you" and only to those who approached them. This was no scarier than the people dressed up for Butcher's Hollow in the Buggy Days Parade. Last year they actually jummped out at you with a chain saw. This group did not do anything like that. So why are you so angry?
if you take care of yourself and yours and keep your own house, goblins, ghosts, satan or saints, Jesus and others should not be a fearful thing to think about. If you are trying to take care of other peoples business instead of your own, then you should be very afraid of all of the above.
Really people? Are we really having this discussion again? If you don't like Halloween, stay home and keep your kids at home. If you want to celebrate Halloween then do it. Who cares what others think? If you want to influence people to change their views and/or lifestyle, insulting them is not really the best way to go about it (no matter which side you're on).
The Bible says to spread the Gospel (good new). Nothing wrong with that. No one is forcing anything on you. If you choose to go to Church, fine. If you dont want to, that is fine too, we will keep praying for you.
As for Halloween, who cares. Im not a paygan or celtic or anything else that believes that this is nothing but fun to play around and pass out candy and get candy. I dont think really anyone out trick or treating were casting spells on anyone. I could be wrong but i would go out on a limb and say that.
It has been said that "participating in halloween doesnt make you anymore a satan follower or there alike, than someone that just goes to the Church makes them a Christian". Its all about how deep you go into it or what you want to get out of it.
Think about it.
AMEN exactly... i hate seeing these "Christians" being so judgmental.... if you dont like it dont participate. One reason it took me so long to find a good church because MOST people in churches here are fast to judge you before they even know you! cough cough
baptist church... anyway if you have researched Halloween you will see if actually started as the end of summer and beginning of fall... when days shorten and nights grow longer...
The ancient Celts believed that the border between this world and the Otherworld became thin on Samhain, allowing spirits (both harmless and harmful) to pass through. The family's ancestors were honoured and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. It is believed that the need to ward off harmful spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks. Their purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirit and thus avoid harm. In Scotland the spirits were impersonated by young men dressed in white with masked, veiled or blackened faces. Samhain was also a time to take stock of food supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. Bonfires played a large part in the festivities. All other fires were doused and each home lit their hearth from the bonfire. The bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into its flames. Sometimes two bonfires would be built side-by-side, and people and their livestock would walk between them as a cleansing ritual.
Christian attitudes towards Halloween are quite diverse. In the Anglican Church, some dioceses have chosen to emphasize the Christian traditions of All Saints’ Day, while some other Protestants celebrate the holiday as Reformation Day, a day to remember the Protestant Reformation.
Many Christians ascribe no negative significance to Halloween, treating it as a purely secular holiday devoted to celebrating "imaginary spooks" and handing out candy. Halloween celebrations are common among Roman Catholic parochial schools throughout North America and in Ireland. In fact, the Roman Catholic Church sees Halloween as having a Christian connection. Father Gabriele Amorth, a Vatican-appointed exorcist in Rome, has said, "[I]f English and American children like to dress up as witches and devils on one night of the year that is not a problem. If it is just a game, there is no harm in that."
Most[citation needed] Christians hold the view that the tradition is far from being satanic in origin or practice and that it holds no threat to the spiritual lives of children: being taught about death and mortality, and the ways of the Celtic ancestors actually being a valuable life lesson and a part of many of their parishioners' heritage. Other Christians feel concerned about Halloween, and reject the holiday because they believe it trivializes (and celebrates) "the occult" and what they perceive as evil. A response among some fundamentalists in recent years has been the use of 'Hell houses' or themed pamphlets (such as those of Jack T. Chick) which attempt to make use of Halloween as an opportunity for evangelism.
Some consider Halloween to be completely incompatible with the Christian faith because of its origin as a pagan "Festival of the Dead." In more recent years, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston has organized a "Saint Fest" on the holiday. Many contemporary Protestant churches view Halloween as a fun event for children, holding events in their churches where children and their parents can dress up, play games, and get candy. Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate Halloween because they believe anything that originated from a pagan holiday should not be celebrated by true Christians.
Religions other than Christianity also have varied views on Halloween. Celtic Pagans consider the season a holy time of year. Celtic Reconstructionists, and others who maintain ancestral customs, make offerings to the gods and the ancestors. Some Wiccans feel that the tradition is offensive to "real witches" for promoting stereotypical caricatures of "wicked witches"
This is a free country and many of us think that the group on Thomaston St. did a great thing. They used the opportunity to publicly witness for Christ. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and my opinion is that this group did a wonderful job planting seeds in this community that needs more of Christ.
Thank you, #16. Our youth will appreciate the encouragement. They were doing just that, taking an opportunity to spread the Good News of Christ. They were not trying to insult anyone. Nor where they out there yelling that Halloween was wrong. They just wanted to let people know Jesus loves them.

Yes! Yes! sister. I know of what you speak. I remember those things in my wilder days...of course that was before I saw the light you know. I was in that place you speak about. Oh yes! it was on Stewart Avenue in Atlanta next to Nalley Chevrolet. That inviting place filled with go-go dancers was called "The Den Of Iniquity". Except on Sundays that is. The "I" was changed to an "E" on the sign and it became "The Den Of Eniquity".
The church folks liked that. Anyway, I digress, as I do recall one of those gogo dancers was a blonde skinny girl who displayed some mighty big "false prophets".. of molded foam origin.
I remember Matthew Seven (the tallbouncer) pointing out those false prophets to me. Oh yeah! and that portly Judge Christ and his crew were howling like wolves..wooo---wooo. The Judge passed out many rewards too. He deftly poked dollar bills down the areas of the "false prophets". Yes, Sister Tiffany, it was a social club filled with an abundance of false prophets AND they were in it for the MONEY. On many Sunday mornings at the church up the street, I recognized many of the same "worshipers: from the night befor at the "Den". One of those skinny girls was named Tiffani...hmm...change the "y" to an "i"..naah...not a chance. Is it?
All I can say is that I was never on Stuart Avenue or in Atlanta but there is no telling what you would have caught me doing before Jesus got a hold of me and completely revolutionized my life! And it has been a long time since I was skinny! But this one thing I know...I once was lost but now I am found. And I am proud to be associated with that group of religious fanatics that everyone is in such an uproar about (one of them was my daughter). All those teenagers know is that they have found someone who filled every void they had in their lives...you should hear some of their testimonies - don't ever think that because they are young that they haven't been through anything...and they want so badly to share Him with everyone they come in contact with. The only difference between what they did and what other churches did to "evangelize" was that they got right down in the middle of everyone and brought the answer with them. They meant no harm but they also don't mind being persecuted and ridiculed for the name of Jesus. So, if you feel the need, continue with your hateful banter but know that they are praying for each and every one of you!
That said, the whole point in my reply about Matthew chapter 7 is that there are those who use the name of Jesus to excuse hurting or killing those who don't believe like they do. This is not biblical...it is not a teaching of Jesus Christ. So anyone who believes or teaches this is a false prophet. And just because someone says that they are a Christian does not make them one. Therefore, you needn't judge the church of God because of the actions of a few nuts. The true church of God is not violent.
#4, Jesus did feed the hungry, He did minister to those who needed ministering to, and He did show his love to all.
To ALL - Jesus DID carry the cross for us, He DID call people to repentance, and John the Baptist WAS sent to tell people that the kingdom of God was at hand. They DID do those things whilst on earth.
Please let the love of God minister to you. The group on the streets during Halloween showed you what Jesus went through, not just the pain, but the ridicule. You think that people didn't say the same things that you are saying about these people as the people said about Jesus as He carried His cross? Do you not think John the Baptist was persecuted and told he was nuts because of what he said? Do you think each of the apostles who died for Christ's sake were not told they were fanatics? Yet still, they stood strong, and their faith never wavered.
Jesus showed the ultimate love for people. Take heed and accept Him. All of you who are claiming to be Christian here and are bashing these people who were demonstrating what you say you believe Christ did for you, why aren't you shouting with joy? Why are you saying they shouldn't do it? Because it would ruin some 'holiday'? If it had occurred on any other day, would you have so many negative things to say about it or would you have been pleased to see it? Think about it...
I do not think that what the youth did was wrong but I do not feel that they carried out the right approach to reach the public. I think the presentation left a lot of room for interpretation. I bore witness to them and to be perfectly honest I was a little taken aback. I felt as though I was being screamed at. Their words, followed with their tone of voice, made it all appear negative. I feel that if you want to reach people for god then we need to get off the fire and brimstone rants. If you want to show the public what Christ did for them, then invite them to your church and show the Passion of the Christ. I also think that if you want to show of Christian beliefs in the streets on Halloween, then be prepared for next year when those will walk around spreading the word of Muslims and Buddhists, because this is American. The land were religious freedom and freedom of speech can be found in the first amendment, as all these comments have represented beautifully. Again, I am not saying that I am not a believer of God. I simply feel that there is an appropriate way to reach people and I do not believe that this was it.
Well-said. I feel exactly the same way. While the intent of the group may have been good, their method of delivery did not give that impression. The leaders of the group were not just "speaking" bible verse, it was being SHOUTED...that shouting, in fact, is what prompted me to come out of my house to see what was happening - I could hear it from all the way down the street & wondered if some sort of fight was taking place. As they passed my front porch, it appeared to me that the leaders of the group were intent not on exhorting people to come into the love of Christ, but rather accusing everyone out there of being devil-worshipping sinners. As my grandma always said "It's not so much what you say, it's how you say it". Some might enjoy that kind of accusatory preaching style. Personally, my faith is based more in love & forgiveness therefore I thought this group's display was disturbing. Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary. :)
I just have to wonder if that is what everyone thought of Jesus and the disciples and John the Baptist in their time...that they were too overbearing. I am sure that it is. The thing is, we have gotten away from the preaching of the unadulterated Word of God and have settled for a pat on the back or an uplifting message from an motivational speaker. We have forgotten that it is the truth that sets us free. I agree that the truth must be tempered with love. In my opinion this teenage group exemplified both. They portrayed John the Baptist as he told the world what they were in need of and they followed with a portrayal of Jesus as He made His way to the cross and demonstrated His love for all. What more could you ask for?
How about walking around telling people about Jesus and the plan of salvation. Even John the Baptist and Jesus preached to the people and taught them. They didn't feed the people with a one line sentence. Don't worry, you are not being persecuted. This is not what persecution is all about. Think about the people in China who are getting killed because of what they believe. I dare to say that if it came to that here you would try to argue your point with the people. If God told you guys to do this, then don't spend so much time trying to defend yourself. Instead, take this opportunity to tell them about Jesus and the plan of salvation. I have yet to see that plan on your blogs, and I don't believe it was given the other night either.
The Bible says to go INTO the world and preach the gospel, and that's what these youth were doing. How is the body of Christ going to grow and souls get saved if people never ever get out of their comfortable little pew and get out there to preach the Word? I am sure these youth knew that on Halloween, the devils come out. I am not condemning everyone who participated, because that is personal decision and not everyone were demon worshippers, but everyone knows there were people out there who needed to hear the Word. If you bore witness to them, then they must have been doing it right. People hear too much "Friend, you are a good person, so let's sugar-coat it and make it easier to swallow." They NEED to hear it for what it is, they need to see it. They don't need a false sense of security, thinking that "Oh, God would NEVER send me to hell!" If you don't repent and get right, that is exactly what's going to happen! The Passion is an excellent movie on portraying what Christ did for us, but it's a very impersonal thing to sit and watch a movie. When the movie ends, its over. These youth were portraying what they believed! It hasn't ended for them, they are still on fire for God! People have heard the softer side of the Gospel, but you can't take it without taking the hard-to-swallow side, too.

The Passion AKA 18.1

You say that we should get out of our comfort zone to teach those the message of Christ, and I agree with you. But, dear Born Again, as I mentioned in 18.1, I do not feel as if they had the right approach. You stated "I am sure these youth knew that on Halloween, the devils come out." You followed by with this, "I am not condemning everyone who participated, because that is personal decision and not everyone were demon worshippers, but everyone knows there were people out there who needed to hear the Word." I do agree that there our those out there who need to hear the word. But the fact they were competing with a Holiday, one for or against god its your choice, means that you had to go with the old die hard hell speech to even get attention. First off, religious freedom is a big thing to me. Though I may believe in God and others may not I will not hold it against them. God will deal with them later. But I do not think it is right to forcible shout your opinion at someone in a means to get them to convert. What happened to planting the seed? What I witnessed was no that, but rather excessively planting a full grown oak tree. With that stated, I feel that to most, Halloween is a tradition that we carried out for our kids to have fun. If you look at today's society we tell our children 'stranger danger'. Halloween gives one night a year to dress up, have fun being something that they are not, and meet those around that are labeled as strangers, while at the same time being safe. To forcible shove religion at someone by shouting at them on Halloween is like someone from a different religion coming to your house on Christmas and yelling at you saying that you will be tortured for all eternity because you don't believe what they do.
It may be an impersonal thing to sit down and watch The Passion, but its allows a comfortable median to those that do not believe. And of course it ends, but so does the Bible. Though amazingly we have done well and still preach on it. Use The Passion as a tool, or starting basis. After its over talk to those that just bore witness to it. Teach them! Tell them all they want to hear about the word!
As far as getting out of your comfort zone, or teaching those about the word who need to hear it. You should consider going 45 minutes either north or south (Atlanta or Macon) find a drugged out homeless man, take them to dinner and discuss the word of god. Believe me its effective. That homeless man, even if he does not convert, will always remember the nice Christians that took him to dinner and explained Christ to him. And if he does convert, then he will remember that night ten fold. If you still think that the method used on Halloween was effective, then take this test. Still go up to a drugged out homeless man but this time instead of asking him to dinner, stand in front of him, point to him (As I was pointed at on Halloween) and shout repent at him at the top of your lungs. Call me crazy but I am certain he will throw something at you. Plant the seed, not shove it down there throats! Just remember, you reap what you sow, and all that was sown into me the other night was a bad taste.

I don't recall anyone asking me if I wanted all these kids dressed up in costumes to come knock on my door asking for candy? The point is that these kids did something fun on Halloween that they hoped would be a witness for others and it made a bunch of people mad, why? I know I saw a werewolf chasing kids down the street growling, no one seems to mind that. I witnessed this group also, and I thought it was a great thing. The kids handed me a track and said Jesus loves you, He died on the cross for you. That doesn't seem very judgemental to me. You folks just need to chill. These kids were just doing what everyone else out there did. They dressed up and walked up and down the street acting the part they had dressed up as. Isn't that what everyone else did? Oh, yeah...there was candy with that track....

I have basically been told my whole life that I am going to burn and to be honest, it starts to loose it's "spark" after awhile. In retrospect, I really don't think that most people do things with there life that God would want an eternity in a fire pit for. I just don't think that the same fate could be shared by an average joe and someone like Hitler or such as. I measure the average joe has done some "nickle and dime" stuff, but who hasn't? And I am sure that some people will think "O there is no such thing as nickle and dime stuff", and I ask them; Is stealing a candy bar really the same thing as committing murder? I personally think not, with that aside, I believe it is just not right to go and only preach the fire and brimstone to everyone. Why is it always that? Can't it be teaching of his love, caring, and compassion of others? Teaching people of the terrors that await them if they don't do as they are told is only going to bring people to the religion out of fear! I also personally and strongly believe that people should not be judged by their personal beliefs but by the actions and choices that they make in life!
Instead of trying to think and reason out an excuse for the sin that you want to get away with, why not just read what the Word of God has to say about it. We are not supposed to think, we are supposed to submit to the will of God. And if you don't believe that the Bible is authoritative, then you must not really believe in God....so why are you worried about trying to justify yourself?...Or is it that you know deep down????? Just something to think about.

wow. really? you know you are really not helping the image of some Christians being brain-washed."We are not supposed to think, we are supposed to submit to the will of God" now i understand that if you feel inclined to go out and preach of love and compassion, in fact more power to you, but when you say to go and follow blindly what someone is telling you to do, then you are really not helping your cause. if god wanted us all to think the same and act the same then why would he make us all so different? if he didnt want us to think and to fallow a preacher blindly, then why give us minds and the ability to have thoughts and opinions? #19 couldnt be more right to me. its not the teachings, its the people going around teaching it. so rarely have i seen people letting others come to Christ out of a wanting to help and learn and to commonly out of a fear of what will happen if they dont. it seems by so manys logic that is they dont follow this specific, preset way then they will end up in hell. i love the teachings that Christ offers, but what i dont like are the ones who look down on others who are different and dont think the "right" way. judging so harshly for what others think.
You must have misunderstood me. I didn't say that you should follow any preacher blindly. I refuse to follow any preacher who does not line his preaching and his LIFE up with the Word of God. I said that you were supposed to follow JESUS blindly. You are supposed to submit to the will of God that is outlined in His Word blindly. God made us so differently and gave us desires and wills because He does not want anyone to be forced to love Him. He wants you to decide to love Him because you want to. But he loves you regardless. Just remember that He doesn't send anyone to hell....you choose your own path. His will is for everyone to be with Him in heaven. And I hope for your sake that I am wrong and that the life I choose is above and beyond what is required by God. If so, I will still have no regrets. But if I am right, will you have any?
This group did not tell anyone that they were going to burn. They told people that Jesus loved them, and that He died for them. I can remember thinking if I was going to Hell I might as well enjoy the trip. I was tired of people telling me that I was going to Hell, but one day someone told me that Jesus loved me just as I was. When I accepted Him as Lord and Savior in my life, things changed in me. I didn't change to become a Christian. I became a Christian and that changed me. The love you have from Jesus is a love like no other. We do nothing to earn that love, it is freely given. All you have to do is accept it. The Word tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but also that redemption is there for those who would take it. If you knew that your bills were past due and you could not pay them, and someone offered to pay them for you, wouldn't you accept? I am sorry that others have hurt you, but Jesus can and will heal all, just ask.

oh you seem to have miss understood me, i am a christian, just not the kind that seems so ready to call others out as being sinners. there is such little plain black or white in the world (metaphorically speaking) and as for those who have hurt me, well those were the ones who spoke of what they see as his love being everyone who does not see in this way will be cast into hell. i have accepted his love, pray and give thanks everyday, but i also know that things in the world are very rarely ever just good and evil dived in the middle. i wish the world could come together and love each other as they were and stop trying to change everything about another group they dont like. and i am so thankful when i see those that dont try and change others. those that just let every person be as they wish.
The Bible says that no sin is greater than another, and that he who commits sin is of the devil. The Bible also says that liars will be thrown into the lake of fire, rebellion against authority is as the sin of witchcraft, and that the devil comes to STEAL kill and destroy. All sins are equal in God's eyes. It's sin, period. And these kids, from what I hear, WERE telling people that Jesus loved them and gave them tracts that had the salvation message in them. Salvation goes like this : You come to the realization that you are a sinner, which comes from people preaching it to you and telling you (Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand). Then you learn what your eternal soul is in danger of, spiritual death, and you learn of the way, the truth and the light, Jesus, who died on the cross for our sins, and you are made free. I will always stand up for my beliefs and I will always back those that are doing God's work.
What blows my mind is that these so called christians or Jesus Freaks are preaching Jesus loves you and you all need to repent and walking down the street with crosses and saying repent when they need repentance themselves, there church says Fellowship Restoration but Restoration needs to be off their sign because they do nothing to restore, so many people have been hurt because of this group of people at this church, HAVE they went out and tried to minister to those who have been hurt through the years, and dont even go to church because of them??? I DON'T THINK SO and trust me it has been not 1 family but MANY. God dilivered me from that church years ago. I can't praise him enough for getting me out of that mess. Before you start preaching to others Fellowship People you need to look at yourselfs first, maybe if you can truely except Jesus in your own hearts then maybe you would see people flooding your church doors and getting saved and lives being truely changed.....
If you have something to say to this church then you need to be man or woman enough to either include your name or talk to them directly. This is not the avenue for that kind of thing. And I dare say that you better be careful what you say about God's anointed. If you have been hurt, then it is not the church's job to come hunt you down. Forgiveness is on you, not the ones you are offended at. God showed me long ago...holding forgiveness is like taking rat poison and waiting for the other person to die...it only hurts you. I hope that if you are dealing with hurt, that it is not keeping you out of church completely. If there is a valid reason that you are hurt, the one who hurt you will have to answer for that on their day of judgment, but if you are letting it keep you away from a relationship with God then you will answer for that.
In response to #20.1, why are you so concerned with finding out who #20 is? It seems a little creepy to me. It also seems hypocritical to tell someone that they need to put their name on their posting when you haven't put your name on your posting. Anyway, as the saying goes, you may want to try practicing what you preach.
As far as your comments on forgiveness goes, according to Matthew 5:23-24 you are completely wrong. You do have an obligation to attempt to reconcile with your brother, and from your comments and the comments of #20, I think it would be safe to assume that your group hasn't done that. You come across as being a very arrogant person. Who are you to tell people what the correct venue is for speaking their minds? In fact, I think that is what got this whole thing started. Kind of ironic isn't it?
As far as your little comment about God's anointed, It is God (not man) who determines who is anointed and who is not, and it is displayed by the life they live and the fruit they bear. Those that are truly anointed of God bear a much greater responsibility than others and should be very careful what they say about and how they treat others (even sinners) because they represent Jesus Christ.
I see you all are still trying to scare people with the anointed one again. I have to agree with # 21 Blah Blah Blah Blah! I dare to say the so called anointed may be shocked themselves on judgement day. The end all I have say, Im done now.
Who is "you all"? I do know that what #20.1 said is scriptural, though. Isn't it something like not touching the anointed or doing harm to the prophets? They didn't make that up..it came from the Almighty Himself. We all better be careful when it come to the church.
as a teenager, i find it very childish for all to be arguing over something as petty as this on a newspaper website. not everyone is going to believe the same and it is childish of all these adults to be arguing back and forth like such. YOU are the ones who are supposed to be setting examples for the youth of the community yet you choose to spend your time on the computer arguing with anonymous people about a holiday? if it is of that great of importance to you, then get off of the computer and go do something about it, start a group to support what you believe in or spread the word but this is nonsense. even i as a child can recognize this.

That was my whole point in putting the Muslim link up. You cannot judge a religion or anything else by a couple of nut jobs that claim association with them!
If you will scroll up just a bit and read #24, you will see why I posted those links in 24.1. I am aware of extremists in all religions..thats why I choose not to be religious but just spiritual instead. And there was definitely no judging. That is the main problem with religions. Each thinking they hold the only kingdom to heaven. No tolerance for different views.
In not talking about extremist. There are extremist in ever walk in life. Baseball, football, eating, muslim, Christian etc.
Im not talking about David Koresh type "Christians". Im tlking about people that live life by the word of God and try to strive to be like Jesus. We all fall short but we have to keep on pushing through.

Just because people don't believe the same way you do doesn't make them wrong. Who are you to go about telling people they should be ashamed because they believe differently than you. Grow up and act like an adult instead of trying to push your views on everyone else.
I say, I agree that unleashed religious dogs should be put on a leash.

Remember to seek God first and foremost, and come as you are, he can help you.
God is a loving God, so say your heart is, he will always love you.
I would like to thank the people who take the time to buy the candy, decorate the house and make Halloween a fun and enjoyable experience.
Now that's about the scariest thing I have ever heard.
Sounds like that is one group of Christians with some backbone...about time we saw some!
GOD BLESS!!
God Bless,

As for Halloween, who cares. Im not a paygan or celtic or anything else that believes that this is nothing but fun to play around and pass out candy and get candy. I dont think really anyone out trick or treating were casting spells on anyone. I could be wrong but i would go out on a limb and say that.
It has been said that "participating in halloween doesnt make you anymore a satan follower or there alike, than someone that just goes to the Church makes them a Christian". Its all about how deep you go into it or what you want to get out of it.
Think about it.
baptist church... anyway if you have researched Halloween you will see if actually started as the end of summer and beginning of fall... when days shorten and nights grow longer...
Yes! Yes!
Is it?

That said, the whole point in my reply about Matthew chapter 7 is that there are those who use the name of Jesus to excuse hurting or killing those who don't believe like they do. This is not biblical...it is not a teaching of Jesus Christ. So anyone who believes or teaches this is a false prophet. And just because someone says that they are a Christian does not make them one. Therefore, you needn't judge the church of God because of the actions of a few nuts. The true church of God is not violent.
People have been getting it wrong for centuries and still are...look beyond the words that you preach.
