Griffin police officer Chad Moxon, a Lamar County resident, has offered a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who kidnapped and killed his partner Jimi.

Jimi was a well trained K-9 officer with the Griffin PD.

There has been an addition reward offered by The Atlanta Humane Society of $5,000.00 for any valid tip leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Griffin Police Department K-9 “Jimi”. This is funded by the Holland M. Ware Charitable Fund.

This is single handly the worst thing I have been apart of. Chad is a real good friend of mine and I saw how brutally this dog was taken. I hope that the person responsible will turn himself in now before the repercusions become worse. And to anyone reading this the reward is up to $1500. Chads brother and another relative has matched his donation. So if by chance the person who did this is reading this post, I can gurantee you your friends are going to turn you in. And if you havnt told anyone you better keep it that way because eventually this will come out and it will show your true colors. You coward of a person!

This is absolutely terrible. I feel for the officer who owned the dog. I know that police dogs have a very close relationship with their owner. As for the scum that did this...I hope you get caught, and punished to the full extent. This crime was senseless, and the idiot who did it should be made an example.

Just want to thank everyone for all the support, it is greatly appreciated. I know we will find and charge the person responsible for this malicious act. I can only pray that he/she draws a jury of pet owners to sentence him/her to the fullest extent. Cpl. Moxon will be on Channel 46 CBS news at 11 tonight and again at 12 and 4 tomorrow to honor his fallen partner. Please remember to keep Jager in your thoughts as well, as he is still recovering from his injuries. Thanks again.

this is a brutal, fainthearted, remorseless, callous, savagely uncivilized crime to commit. words cannot explain how cruel and stupid it is to kill someone's pet, especially in this case being a officer of the law. this case should be handled as if someone killed the sheriff and tossed him on the side of the road. I pray for comfort for chad and for justice to be sternly served. once again my offer stands for the reward of conviction of this murderer.

I feel Chad and Jeannie's pain in losing Jimi to such a brutal act. It is obvious that the person that committed this crime does not value life. I am the owner of a German Shepherd and a Dutch Shepherd. They are my children. Only a loving dog owner can really understand the deep pain of losing your best friend, especially when he is in the prime of his life. The pain is doubled when your best friend is also your partner. The one that's there for you when things get tough and no one else is around. The one that has the courage of a giant. He fears nothing, just to protect you. A true friend! I urge all of you individuals that have responded negatively, by blaming the family, to consider their feelings. What good can come out of this negative chatter? Why not take a step back in time and remember the days when neighbors helped their neighbors? What has happened to our America? Come on Barnesville, somebody knows something! I have full faith in the Law Enforcement community. The person that did this will be found. He was a brother to them just as he was to Chad. The thin blue line just became a steel wall. Run Forrest, run, straight down to the Sheriff's Department and turn yourself in. I bet PETA would up the reward a bit. Check into it, Chad. Money talks!

im not really fond of Chad. nothing really against him either. However this is absolutely rediculous that someone would do this to an animal. I feel for Chad in this time of suffering. The person should be punished to the fullest extent.
Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that Chad will know the person. I may be wrong.
1: Who would go around a police dog and another germand shepard and take them. They are human aggressive dogs which makes them good guard dogs. (German shepards, Rottweilers, etc.)
Someone felt comfortable enough to approach these mean "looking" dogs and steal them. They also felt confident enough to go in this mans yard. Im not really sure where chad lives now but never the less they was confident by doing so.
I hope they catch this person/people that are responsible. I think they should just turn their heads and let the locals deal with the people involved. Id like to help out.

This person needs to be caught and suffer the consequences of this horrible action. Being a dog owner I know how much joy these animals can bring into our lives and it's so sad that these beautiful dogs were treated this way. I am going to say it. I am not buying that two viscious K-9 dogs were kidnapped and killed and the owner was unaware. I mean, K-9's are mean and viscious. One day I was talking to a K-9 officer and I stepped close to the patrol car and the dog went bananas. So if these dogs were kidnapped, there is no way they did not put up a fight. The owner should have heard something. We have seen so many instances whereas a person did something heinous and then received sympathy in the media only for it to turn out being them who actually committed the crime. I pray that I am wrong but I am not buying any of this story.

BTW, I am not praying for these dogs. Dogs do not have souls. It is unfortunate. But they are just dogs at the end of the day. I am not trying to be mean-spirited. If the dogs were killed as revenge for the officer merely doing his job, then that is very alarming. But I am not buying it for some reason. I am being a healthy skeptic.

These dogs are trained and certified as police officers just the same as a human officer. This is just another sign of how brazen the low lifes have become. While doing my internship for college I participated in the "ride along" program through the Griffin Police Department. During the three months that I participated on the "ride along" I rode with many different officers.

One of the officers that I rode with was Chad Moxon and his partner Jimi. If you could have seen the way the two of them worked together you would know that there is no way that Chad could have hurt or even allowed anyone to hurt his dogs so for you to think that is appalling.

Also since you think they are "just dogs" maybe you should think about that dog spelled backward is GOD. Coincidence? I think not. If you have never experienced the "unconditional love" that a dog can bring in your life, I really feel sorry for you.

Chad, Pete and I send our sympathy to you during this time. We hope that you catch the person that did it and they spend a long time in the prison system.

#19 the story states that the dogs were taken while the officer was "at the Griffin firing range". I understood this to mean that no one was at home at the time of the theft which would stand to reason why no one heard them being taken.Just saying.."come on man"; read the story before you start bashing. I once lived next door to a Lamar drug dog named Sadie and she was a kind and gentle dog, never vicious.

Ok Anon. Do you enjoy pouring salt in the wounds of people that are hurting? You may not value the life of 'lesser species' but that does not mean other people do not see the benefit in forming a bond with their pets.

Did you actually read the article? Assuming that the owner was home is your first mistake. It is unclear how they were removed from their kennel or whether or not they put up a fight. Assuming the dogs were "vicious" is your second mistake. Basing your opinions on one experience you had with a K-9 does not make you an expert and it should not be the basis for judging all other k-9s.

And I believe you made an insinuation that the owner may turn out to be responsible for shooting his own dog...again making a very huge and insulting assumption based on the very narrow viewpoint of your past experiences.

You dont have to buy into anything. Believe in whatever hatched-up conspiracy theory you can derive. Maybe it was aliens?!? The same aliens that stole your black heart.

Not all K-9's are mean....most drug dogs are calm and not very aggressive....I think you have the wrong perseption about them or may have possibly dealt with a dog that had to run your sorry ass down somewhere....Some dumbass has shot a police officer....these dogs go through thousands of dollars of training to do the jobs they do with their handlers and are a vital part of each department they are with. I think whom ever did this should have to be put into a room hands tied and let police dogs attack and kill. I am an animal lover myself. I have a rottweiller. In a response to number 19... there was only ONE police K9, the other was a family owned pet of 2 years. They both were affectionate dogs and, despite what you may believe from ignorant hype, have never attacked a single person. It is unclear how the dogs were removed from the fence. The lock had been tampered with, whether by the culprit nobody knows. The fact remains that the police K9 was tossed in a ditch with his tags removed... obviously someone knew they committed a wrong. Also the other dog now suffers neurological damage from an unclear origin. We also know that the other dog returned home starving and thirsty despite all the surrounding wildlife and ponds. He also tucked tail and ran from every person he came in contact with for several hours. It is not clear what happened to these two dogs, but the evidence remains that something not quite kosher occured.

If anyone ones about trained dogs-then you all know- thay only attack when the command is given- they arent mean horrble dogs- they are taken in to the officers home to be a part of the family- they were sweet love to ride loved kids and only to they ATTACK when the COMMAND is given- - wake up- Thats why they are trained attack to back up when given the command- they are family inside the family home- like our dogs- only we didnt put them thru the Academy . like thse dogs were . and let me tell all of yall something about DOGS- they are a gift from GOD- little wonderful creatures of this world sent from HEAVEN to make our life a better place- thank you God for these wonderful things you've blessed us with- they have souls- they are from GOD-

I am appalled that this could happen to anyone's dog. I am a dog lover w/ 4 jack russells & I know the hurt of "a member of my family" being killed and/or having to be put down because of cancer. Yes, dogs get cancer & they have beautiful souls ! My heart goes to the family of Chad Moxon & "Jimi". "Jimi" was a member of this family, but he was also a member of the Griffin Police Department being a K-9 officer. I pray for the person that did this because they obviously need our prayers & help. The love given to the owner from any pet is unconditionally - all animals are gifts from GOD. I am sure that the love from "Jimi" to Chad was rewarding & I hope & pray that this individual is caught & punished to the full extent of the law ! This is terrible. As a family member of a K9 handler, I feel for Officer Moxon. This person didn't kidnap, torture one dog and kill the other, they killed a partner and a fellow officer. i remember when chad first got jimi.he was very excited to have the opportunity to patrol with a k9 by his side.chad and jeannie love their dogs very much.in fact,i am good friends with jen and when asked when to expect kids in her and chads future she would respond"we've got our dogs,no need for kids right now". WHEN this person(s) is caught and charged, I hope that he(they) are charged with killing and assaulting a Police Officer and given the appropriate sentence - DEATH.

“ I am just going to say it”. #19 please learn to spell vicious. Thanks. I was fortunate enough to meet Jimi on several occasions and he was far from vicious. Cpl. Moxon conducted hundreds of demos at various elementary schools and the children were allowed to pet and crawl all over Jimi. I attended several of these demos and Jimi always seemed to enjoy them. Chad is deeply hurt that someone MURDERED his partner and now the insurance company is refusing to pay Jimi’s life insurance policy so it will be up to Chad to raise the money to purchase a new k-9. I talked with Chad today and he was at Jimi’s grave site building a fence and putting up a head stone.

This is the REAL HWGCS, not an envious imitator like the pretend 4.0. He is a redneck honkey feebly attempting to raise the ire of those of us who are suffering with Officer Moxon. My Bassett Hound was stolen 3 years ago and Mr. B was never recovered. This is a serious affair and is not a place for frauds to be perpetrated on those of us in mourning.
I hope Officer Moxon catches the dognappers and beats the shi* out of them before he locks the anuses up.

However i think that the dogs are about 17k each. Kinda expensive. Probably gonna have the expense of traveling to LA or another state in the mid west to get one worth a crap.

There is a dog that Chad can get right now- But the funds are not there- and the insurance on this DOG for some reason is having a hard time wanting to pay for this officer-the DOG- we need to find out why the insurance isn't paying -for all of us tax payers- and try to raise enough money until the insurance pays this- or does NOT pay for unknown reasons- Chad we will find a way to get thru this- The good people of this town are here for you-

What does insurance have to do with tax payers here in Lamar County? If tax payers are paying the insurance on this dog, it would be the tax payers in Spalding County. It was my understanding that the insurance company was simply following protocol like all insurance companies do, making sure that what happened is what happened---meaning the dog was abducted, as opposed to having escaped. It has only been a week, and things as hard as it is to wait, do take time.

Barnesville is sad for Chad's loss, as is the City of Griffin. I hope they find the sick person who did it and make the pay to the fullest extent. I think that if after time it is found that the insurance company really wont pay, and they wont pay for invalid or wrong reasons THEN I think you wont have any problem at all getting the fine people of Barnesville and even the City of Griffin to help raise the funds to get Chad one.

To #55 - it happened in Lamar County- the report has to filed in Lamar County- before the City of Griffin (Spalding Co.) can cover the dog- so what does the Lamar County Report say- his dog was found -shot-tags removed and they dont want to say Jimi were aducted??? hello - thats probally what she meant- yes it has to do with all the tax payers time and money !!!!!

I do not know Cpl. Moxon but am a fellow K9 handler and I cannot imagine the pain Cpl. Moxon must be experiencing in this time of loss. I cherish my partner dearly and would be absolutely devastated if anything happened to her. I hope they catch the people responsible for taking this K9s life and beating his other GSD as well. Senseless....just senseless!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you Cpl. Moxon from one handler to another. RIP Jimi and hope for a speedy recovery for your other baby!

GBI: Will be paid by the state regardless of what cases they handle. However, killing a police K-9 is a felony, and bringing an outside agency in is only fair considering the close ties the Moxon family has to Lamar.

Griffin PD: Were not being paid while helping a fellow police officer find a member of his family. It's call a brotherhood. Maybe you could be a part of something like that one day.

Lamar County SO: Just like you said, it happened in the county. So yeah, regardless they will end up being paid for investigating a police officer's death. (K-9 are sworn officers of their respected agencies)

State Patrol: Has absolutely nothing to do with this case and hasn't been involved unless its been looking out for a specific vehicle that could have been connected with this murder.
