why is it so shameful to celebrate christmas as it has been done for so many years. i used to live in florida and christmas trees were displayed at the m. airport and all of a sudden the jewish community was outraged and angry about the trees. why? the trees had been put up for years. i know quiet a few jewish people that put up trees. they sing carols and enjoy the season. my parents taught me that the christmas season was a time for familys to get together and enjoy one another. they also taught me about the birth of jesus. if you do not celebrate christmas or the birth of jesus does it give you the right to destroy what a majority of americans celebrate. i don't put down anyone's religion you have a right to your beliefs so let everyone celebrate in his or her own way. carols trees a greeting lights gifts or christmas plays should not offend you if you truly believe in your faith. so happy thanksgiving and merry christmas.
If only this were true. Unfortunately the US is still blinded by religion. Religion of all type, not just targeting Christianity here, is the problem. People are slowly starting to realize this and I'm glad to see it.
The life of Christ is a wonderful example of someone who broke from the pious herd mentality and saw the Jewish ridged ritualistic tradition as an obstruction to the actual intent of a spiritual celebration. Christ pushed back and paid the price from those who would force all to abide by a strict religious law. He dared to walk among those labeled “Gentile” because they were born or chose to be different from status quo.
It is common knowledge the date in which Christians celebrate Christmas is not the actual time of year Christ was born but a date selected some two hundred years after his birth. It’s also obvious that much of the tradition was pagan and was adapted to a Christian relevance. Let’s not be so closed minded and filled with self righteous indignation that we loose the core message behind Christ’s teaching by denying others that which we at one time were denied ourselves.
I guess that you dont belive in miricales either, I bet you dont have children cause if you did then when you look in their face you would just know.
And can you prove that there is not one?
Merry Christmas everybody!
