There may be some confusion with our event and another one held around the same time. The Count Barkula Halloween Dog Costume Contest was sponsored by the Barnesville-Lamar County Humane Society and held at Ritz Park on Halloween Day. The first place winner was Jasmine Lee owned by Scott and Robin Leverett. Second place winner was Skye owned by Joan McGinley and third place was won by Teddy Bear owned by Karen Farmer. Two of the winners are rescue dogs. Check out the pictures and great article in the 11-17-09 edition of the Herald Gazette. The humane society will transport animals to the spay/neuter clinic on Thursday, Dec. 3rd and Thursday, December 10th. Call 770-358-4569 to schedule an animal. Beverly Eskridge, Publicity Chair, BLC Humane Society
