I will do 80% or more online and the balance at stores, but only because my time is limited for shopping "in person".
What spending I do in a store will be here in Barnesville since it's important to keep our local economy alive.
I'm more than halfway finished.
It's a cash Christmas.
Some clarification is in order I think.
I'm buying 15 items for Christmas this year, 11 of which are only available thru one website.
The other pricier items are being bought here in town. So, while the bulk looks like it's purchased online, actually the cost of those 11 items is only $109.00.
The other $395.00 I'm spending will be locally here in town. And that is only 4 items.
I'm trying very hard to keep as much money as I can in town.
I too am a Craigslister. It's great, but also be careful because there are a lot of scammers.
I'm doing a lot of Gift Certificates this year. Restaurants (dot)com is a fave of mine. You can get some really good deals. Just read the fine print!!!
I rarely use plastic unless, I'm trying to get rewards points then I'll whip out the Amex. Awesome for mileage ;)
No Cash, No Credit Cards, I don't have any, but I am glad to here most of ya'll are able to buy the gifts your heart and kids desire, as for me and my family we will just get by. This year will be the true meaning of Christmas, nothing fancy just Jesus, Family and Friends. Wishing everyone the very best wishes and a Merry Christmas.
It makes me feel so good to give and I use credit cards all the time but I never ever charge more than I can pay off every month. I also learned from my daddy to always pay a tithe. I bought myself a $400 TV set and my wife a $40 radio. That's how I pay my tithe. 10% for her. I shop online because taxes are to high locally with all the SPLOST and stuff. If I buy from out of state I don't have to pay any tax.
A penny saved is a penny earned. Use your rewards credit card for everything, and, pay it in full at the end of the month. Depending on the rewards, usually about one percent, you can increase your annual income by one per cent if you use it for everything-groceries, gas, clothing, entertainment, gifts, bill paying-everything. It will cost you nothing and you avoid the hassle of handling that nasty germ laden cash. But, if you aren't disciplined enough to pay it in full at the end of the month, stay away.
As far as Cyber Monday goes my experience was AWFUL!!!! American Girl apparently couldn't handle it. The website kept saying it was shut down for maintenance to better serve us. On Cyber Monday REALLY!!!!! Then tried to call and place order and they wouldn't even let you do that, just a recording. I am very disappointed, as much money as that company makes you would think they could have handled it better.
