it used to be included in the taxes but they ended the collections but kept the tax revenues coming in. taxes never went down. so all this really amount to is a hidden tax on top of a tax. leagalized theft.
they do a good job out there and poore is probably the only person that does the county good justice. but because the county kept collecting and ended the service they corrupted themselves. i dont trust any of them.
Not only are rates going up but they want to charge me double for two cans; they will not pick it up if I have my own can. Next year I will have to get my own garbage truck too!! Thanks a lot LC!
I am so tired of extra fees in Lamar County every time you turn around...Some of the people on the local government payroll are just not necessary...What say Shelia???
They are basically doubling the cost of pick up for those of us who need two garbage cans as well. I can understand a higher fee for two cans, but double? It doesn't cost them double to pick up two cans.
I thought I was paying for a service, not trash can rental! I think they should go up another dollar or two, offer any household of 4 or more people the choice of having 1 or 2 trash cans and STILL pick up whatever is left alongside the road on trash day. I still have to pay whether they pick it up or not, so what's the big deal if I have an extra trash can for them to empty every once in a while!!! It probably only takes an extra 10 seconds to dump anyway! They tore up my last trash can and wouldn't even replace it.
I'm to the point of "whatever" with the cost of everything going up every time I turn around.
I have to say, I'm happy to have my trash picked up and hauled off for me, not to mention my yard trash and my recyclables.
I can give up my latte once a week.
I have a great idea! Why don't you just take the garbage to the dump yourself! This is not a mandatory service, you elect to pay for it or not. This is not a "county" service, the landfill stands alone, no taxes are paid to operate it. #5, you are wrong, you don't "have to pay" anything. Cancel your service and take your garbage at your convenience to the dump, don't deal with that mean ole landfill who has kept the prices the same for us since the early 90's!
Yep and they left my lid up Wednesday and I had a foot of water to pour out. While we're at it let's talk about the arrogant Tax Comm office..they set their hours and I guarantee you they are not all present and accounted for at 730a and 6pm, why don't they take Wed. off, Friday is when most people get paid, but no they want a long weekend..and since I'm on a roll the Griffin police car that rolls into Lamar County on his way home everyday needs to slow down. I feel better now.
Dont it feel good to just let it out sometimes. Yea that officer does need to slow down... I pass he/she every day and they are flying. Sometimes I just want to get in behind them and see how fast they are going and see who gets pulled over... it wont be them bet that!
How many dollars will it take to cure stupid? Being that you can care less about giving away a dollar here and another dollar there, why don't you just pay that dollar for everyone?
It's only a dollar - geez! You can handle that can't you?
I can for myself, and I will. I just don't see the big deal. I could see a problem if it was like a $5 increase or something, but not $1. There are other more important problems in this world than this. Just wait til you have to pay for Obamacare!
Who cares about a few dollars. What they are really doing is restricting any flexibility and cutting back on service.
With the new rules:
If I miss a pickup I can't put out last week's missed trash.
If I want to clean out a room, I can't put out two cans for a week or two.
If I change my blinds or florescent lamps, I can't have them picked up unless I break them up and put them in the can with the lid shut.
The price doesn't mean anything, but the restrictions on temporary overflow really suck. Maybe I should throw it in the back of my truck and drive 60 in a 35 like they do, so it all blows out in the ditches just like it does from their trucks?
Yea, how can the Tag office close up on any given day for any reason like training or what ever? They was closed last wednesday and all the rest of the week while I was trying to pay my taxes.
I'm happy to pay and extra dollar- or five! Those men are outside, everyday, no matter the weather conditions, to pick up our GARBAGE... I hope they all gets big fat raises, because whatever they make, it ain't enough!

I'm happy everyone don't consider a dollar to much. I'm rasing my prices 0.25 a meal now. If you eat 4 time a month then that will be my increase of 1.00. If you eat more that 4 times then that would equal slightly more.
I would like to thank the county for conducting this cost increase survey. It nice to include a price increase without everyone rasing a rukus over just a dollar on average. To be fair only meals will get the increase and coffee and drinks will only go up as necessary to keep up with cost. Once again - Thanks for your considerate understanding. I wish everyone would understand that a dollar really ain't that much today.
We had a birthday party two weekends ago and since they won't empty our garbage cans (only theirs), we've got bags and bags of garbage sitting on our porch. We don't have a pickup truck, so we can't take it to the landfill.
