Sunday, Jan. 11, Rock Springs Church celebrated the elimination of its debt on the 4,000 square foot house purchased for the Potter’s House Ministry.

That's refreshing news in these terrible economic times. It's amazing the members of Rock Springs can pay off a $414,000 loan in less than 2 years. Dr. Benny, do you have any advice for those of us struggling to pay on the 30 year mortgage?
1) Set up your homestead as a 501(c)3
2) Invite your friends and neighbors over on a weekly basis
3) Convince (or convict, whatever) them of the good that is done in your home
4) Ask them to make tax-deductible donations to you, your home, and your mission within your home
How about this. Put your faith and trust in the Lord and give Him all the glory. Financial blessings that have taken place at Rock Springs Church have nothing to do with Brother Benny and everything to do with God. Last Sunday Benny preached a sermon on tithing and 20 to 25 people accepted Christ as Savior. Now, that's a God thing.
Putting faith and trust in the Lord has little to do with real estate, mortgage payments, and financial blessings unless the use of those funds is a divine calling. I do hope that Potter's House uses its building and funding to truly answer an assumed divine calling. Potter's House is billed a counseling center for drug addicted women. I am pretty sure it will end up as a "washed in the blood," "saved by grace,"prayed out of misery," sort of place and that, too, is fine if it is, in fact, the calling of the facility.
However, when a church finds the funds to purchase property it is my opinion that it be considered a breach of the separation between church and state and that church now becomes a "for profit" venture unto which proper taxes are assessed. "Render unto Caesar," I say.
I agree with you 'Servant,' people being saved and accepting Christ as their personal Lord and Savior is a God thing. I doubt it had to do with Benny's preaching on tithing though. That message typically sends people writhing away, not signing up for more.
I will defend your right to your opinion. You certainly have the right to be wrong. The Potter's House is a Christian counselng center where the women go through a six month program of being fed the Word of God dawn until dusk. The program has been very successful. Drug rehab programs don't work. Only god can free them from their addiction. Putting your faith and trust in God has everything to do with the financial blessings Rock Springs has received. If you believe otherwise, I respectfully urge you not to sleep on your side...your brains will roll out.
WOW. Thank you 'Servant.' Not only did you affirm my belief in the Potter's House being a "prayer will set you free" rehabilitation clinic which substitutes all clinical medicine with "the Word of God dawn until dusk" but you also negated most research that shows the success of drug rehab programs. And if that weren't enough you took it upon yourself to insult me by saying my brains would fall out of my head. Thank you for that. I am sure it was written in godly love and concern.
Regardless, Rock Springs is meeting the needs of many of our region's citizens by spreading God's love and healing through its ministry and members. I've been impressed with the accomplishments at Rock Springs, including most recently paying off a $414,000 loan in less than two years. Congratulations and keep up your good work.
if i were a female addicted to drugs and really wanted help but did not know where to turn, i would feel blessed and relieved if a place like this were available to me. i don't personally know anything about the Potter House, but it sounds like a positive thing.
Andrew, that is what is wrong with the world today - separation of Church from State. In other words, we starting getting in trouble when we began taking God out of everything. I will however, be praying for you!
