For a week now, Barnesville-Lamar County has been shivering and trying to stay warm. Between space heaters, emergency trips by the propane company and even extra stoking of the fire, we shouldn't expect relief until sometime Monday. But even then it may not last long.
Don't put away the rock salt and quilted Carhartt's just yet.

Today I am going to make a little lean-to for the goat and line it with straw for some bedding.
The chickens, while in a coop, are laying significantly less (which I expected). I have read that they can actually get frostbite on their combs and wattles. I also know the temperature has to get about at 0 for that to be a major concern. I don't think we are near that yet. I did line their coop with some heavy moving blankets (quilts would work) to knock out direct wind.
Pipes are doing good although I did cut off the outdoor spigots and remove the hoses.
Is there nothing this man cannot do?
Withn the exception of telling tell the truth of course? How much longer do we have to wait before we will be calling him the Reverand BH Obama?

Well, that, and since it was made public what a hoax it was.
Too bad, we could sure use some of that global warming now, lol!
I would hardly call Al Gore a socialist as his agenda does not promote a society characterized by equal access to resources for all individuals with a method of compensation based on the amount of labor expended.
I argue he is a progressive communist using Climategate and his eco-propaganda to leverage cap-and-trade policy in an effort to redistribute wealth from his left pocket to his right.
As for the global warming argument. I think we focus too much on the poster children of the problem and not enough on the actual indicators. Part of global warming is, in fact, the increase in global temperature. However, this rise has sub-indicators such as the amount and pattern of precipitation. This change will most likely cause warming in the Arctic and will be associated with continuing retreat of glaciers, permafrost and sea ice. Other likely effects include increases in the intensity of extreme weather events, species extinctions, and changes in agricultural yields.
Seeing as parts of Antartica (Base San Martin, Davis, etc) reached temperatures of 44 degrees last week while Miami, Florida just posted 31 degrees two days ago I think we are seeing some alarming trends.
I don’t doubt for a moment that he believes global warming is a serious issue. He may have appeared hypocritical at times, however, so do some Christians. It doesn’t disprove the theory if the follower is not always a true follower. Aside from that, he is NOT the only global warming advocate. And your like or dislike of him should not affect your opinion on the subject.
There may be "research" disproving this theory but there is much more ACTUAL research to prove it. The least a person can do is suspend judgment.
There is honor in wanting to live a greener lifestyle.
