Sheriff issues Haiti scam warning

Crime Prevention coordinator and public relations officer Sgt. Stead Walker of the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office along with the FBI have issued the following warning regarding Haiti relief scams.

They are grade A+ to F.

After watching on CNN the "victims" throw down emergency rations handed out by the UN because they are "old" and "stale", my money will stay in my pocket.

These folks need a lesson in gratitude and appreciation. I suspect they are about to get it.

Next, Obombo will bring a few hundred thousand more Haitians to live in this country. He will need the help in 2010 election voting.

Wow...I am almost speechless. I can't imagine such a lack of compassion as to expect these poor people to "show gratitude and appreciation" for expired food in their greatest time of need. Expired food would lose it's nutritional value..and these people need their strength to survive this. (Though I have not seen the video you refer to on CNN). But even if it is true, your comments are harsh at best. I have seen the videos of starving injured children who are counting on all of us to help. Also "about to get it"? I would think they have carried a burden that none of us could possibly comprehend already. A desperation and pain I hope we never have to endure.

"What you do to the least of these..you do onto me"....I doubt being anonymous counts where it matters.

Keeping your money in your pocket is your choice...prayers are free...I have enough of those to send one in on your behalf as well.

Just wondering why dont you do the basketball season the same way you do football season and go to the games and give live updates?

I've never seen any media rep. at the basketball games. Its like they don't care about the basketball players that play just as hard as football players. They don't even give weekly scores like they do during football season. I feel bad for the players because of this.

here is the deal on basketball...the coaches are supposed to e-mail ken green each friday or saturday with their results for the week. but, when they lose, they won't do it.

if you go to the high school website and click on the athletics tab, you will see the football and baseball pages are chock full of info. the basketball site has nothing, not even a roster. what sort of pride in the program does that show on the part of the coaches?

we have a system in place to report on basketball. the lcchs coaches refuse to take advantage of it!

We can give to Haiti, and its like poring money down a rathole,they will be right back to ware they were. And will be like all other countries we help,they will hate us in 2 years. Their just like all other countries,no one ever steps up to help America in times of need.such as Hurricanes.

Haiti is an extremely poor country, and we as citizens of the world can take $20 our of our pockets to help these people.
We cannot imagine what most Haitians live like on a regular basis, so let's find it in our hearts to stop with the ugly comments.
I personally would not like to have a single death on my conscience.
I can take a few people hating me as long as I feel like I did my part.
