Spalding County authorities have identified the man who shot former Lamar County sheriff Joe Buice Friday afternoon as 38-year-old Michael Stringer.

Like Joe or not....there is not a cop in the world that deserves to go down like that. I am glad he is gonna be ok.

I agree. If you don't like somebody please people keep it to yourselves. I am sure family members would greatly appreciate positive comments rather than negative comments about their loved ones.
I pray that Joe makes a speedy recover.
No one deserves to be shot down like an animal,not even an animal.
I think we should also pray for the gun man's family,cause I'm sure they loved him too.

It would be very informative to get some history on Michael Stringer. The motivation behind this act of violence would help put this incident in perspective. Was he a military vet? Does he have a criminal history or suffer from a mental disorder? Is he unemployed? Why did this happen?

Sure, you like that simple phrase don't you? BeCAUSE I was speeding and got caught, the effect will be my paying a fine. BeCAUSE someone called the police when someone was threatening suicide, the resulting effect is that Joe Buice was shot, as well as, another innocent passerby. The attempted suicide victim was also killed. If he had carried out his original thought and the deputies were not put into the middle of it. He would be dead, which was his original wish and no one else would be hurt. Be CAUSE he wanted to die...he killed himself...effect he is dead. Isn't that much simpler?

It's called "suicide by cop"...they don't have the guts to kill themself, so they call 911, then do something agressive with a gun or knife to the cops, so the cops have no option but to shoot. It's getting very popular with the lunatics. Pray for all law enforcers.

In my personal opinion, if someone wants to commit suicide, the police have no business interfering. PERIOD. They are not violating anyone elses constitutional rights or threatening the lives of others. Let them do it.

In this case however, it was said that the man was firing at other citizens randomly. This changes the scenario.
Other that this, let them do it.

I am almost ready to agree with you....the only problem I see in the United States with that solution.......the relatives or loved ones will use that 911 tape to bring legal suit against the legal system for wrongful death.
