I see where LC is third in the standings. Anyone know how the high school basketball playoffs work? Is it like football where the top 4 in the region go to the playoffs?

They play a region tournament. Top two seeds are automatic to state with byes to the semi-finals. 8 & 9 open the tourney with a play in game with the winner facing 5 while 6 plays 7. The winner of 8/9/5 plays 3 and the winnner of 6/7 plays 4. The winner of 8/9/5/3 advances to the semi finals to face 2 and gets a berth in the state tourney. The winnner of 6/7/4 advances to the semis and faces 1 and gets a berth in the state tourney. The winners of 8/9/5/3/2 and 6/7/4/1 advance to the champsionship game. the losers in the semis face each other for third and fourth seeding for state.

sorry for the confusion 2.1. Simplest put, top two teams at the end of regular season get automatic bids to state. All others have to play to get to semis and get bid. So #9 can make state by winning two games. 3 and 4 only have to win once. So if the Trojans stay at 3 or drop no further than 4 they will only have to win once to get a state bid.

So, it is the top 4 from Region Tournament that goes to State. During regular season, your position helps by making your Region tournament schedule easier? Only #1 and #2 from season are guaranteed trip to state tournament based on getting bye's to the semi-finals of the region.
