As the school day began a number of elementary, middle and high school students descended on Trojan Field to watch the LCCHS powder puff games.

The high school spirit week event is not a new one to Lamar Co. Past years have seen their share of powder puff games where the girls take the field and the boys coach and/or cheer.

This years event featured the 9th and 10th graders on one team facing off against the junior class while the second game featured the senior girls against the teachers. [Full Story »]

The day everyone has been waiting has finally arrived. The Rock Ranch Hot Air Balloon Rally will launch today and is destined to be bigger and better than ever.

This year’s balloon rally is presented by Cronic Chevrolet of Griffin and will feature balloon pilots from throughout the southeast competing for a wide array of exciting prizes.

The balloons will first launch around 8:30 a.m., well before the gates open, but guests will be allowed to come into the parking lot and watch the launch. The second launch will take place at approximately 6 p.m. and the picturesque Ferrell Gas “balloon glow” will begin at dark. [Full Story »]

Gordon College to offer bachelor's degree in Biology

Gordon College will begin offering a Bachelor of Science degree in biology beginning with the fall 2010 semester. The first degrees will be awarded in spring, 2012.

The second annual Dewaine T. Bell Memorial Chili Cook Off will be held in the high school cafeteria Thursday, Oct. 29. The time is set from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. but last year the cook off sold out of chili in the first hour.
