As posted in comments on Greta's article referencing the MOVEON ad about Sarah Palin.

The last 45 of my 66 years I've spent in a commercial fishing town in Alaska . I understand Alaska politics but never understood national politics well until this last year. Here's the breaking point: Neither side of the Palin controversy gets it. It's not about persona, style, rhetoric, it's about doing things. Upson Regional Medical Center has purchased three acres of land on Hwy. 18 near the Aldora Village and plans to build a medical office complex there.

The land, located behind Walgreen's, was purchased from Paragon Development.

Sheriff Larry Waller and his criminal investigations division commander Todd Pippin spent 45 minutes in executive session with the Lamar County commission Tuesday night.

The commission returned after the closed session and adjourned without comment but the session was apparently about property claims filed by former Milner restauranteur and ex-convict Randolph (Rudy) Vaughn. [Full Story »]
