The Community Awards Banquet is March 4th at the Civic Center. Be sure to get your nominations in by February 19th. Nomination forms can be found on the homepage of the Chamber’s website at www.barnesville.org. Turner’s Catering will be preparing a delicious meal for us that evening. The menu will feature shrimp alfredo, pork tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans with almonds, toss salad, yeast rolls and peach cobbler for dessert. Cold weather resulted in a major water line break that cost Milner at least 800,000 gallons of water earlier this month.

City administrator Harold Wilson reported the loss at the Jan. 14 council meeting. This is in addition to some 943,000 gallons that went missing during December, a loss of 29.3%.

The board of education plans to change its policy to stop allowing students who do not pass the Georgia High School Graduation Test to walk in commencement ceremonies. The only question is when the change will take place. [Full Story »]
