Despite a week off to prepare, the Lamar County Trojans came out flat Friday night and dropped a key region game to the Greene County Tigers 17-14.
The loss severely damaged the team's hopes of hosting a playoff game. Now, the Trojans put those hopes on the line next Friday in Monticello against a suddenly hot Hurricane team that blew out Crawford County Friday.
Lamar also blew its chance to improve upon last year's regular season record and lost the week after its open date for the second consecutive time.
