Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that Caterpillar, Inc. (NYSE: CAT) will make a major investment in its Griffin Engine Center in Spalding County. The Peoria, Ill.-based company will create at least 200 jobs and invest $120 million in machinery, equipment and upgrades to the existing facility.

Spalding County sheriff Dee Stewart was seriously injured Thursday when his patrol car was struck on the passenger side by a Ford Bronco driven by his grandson Chad Gasaway, an officer at the sheriff's department.

Lamar County has contracted to have the tornado debris removed from the right of way of County roads. The contractor has completed a first pass on many roads and next week (June 13-17) we expect them to be working on Van Buren and Harmony Hill Ranch Roads.
