Milner police department gets $10,000 grant

The Milner police department has been awarded a public safety partnership grant totaling $10,000 from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety in Atlanta. The incentive grant, which will last through September of this year, is designed for smaller law enforcement agencies that have partnered with GOHS and excelled in taking part in highway safety initiatives and making their communities safe during the previous year. I came to Georgia following a dream. What I received from Georgia was far more than a dream, it was a new life. I arrived late 1992 and in early 1993 began working with the Soil Conservation Service as a county technician. Immediately Georgia set about to educate this transplant. Our agency had a young college intern who promptly informed me, “Now, Eunice, if you are ever going to expect us to understand you, you’ll have to speak like a Georgian.” [Full Story »]

Bryce Arsenio Smith will appear in Lamar superior court April 23 for sentencing by Judge Bill Fears. Smith agreed to a plea deal and testified against Lakievius Eleby in his murder trial. The two, along with Shameik Spinks, were charged with murdering Gordon Student Danavan Bussey in November, 2010. [Full Story »]
