Lamar County closes out the regular season this week hosting Crawford County. The Trojans are 8-0-1 overall and 6-0 in region play. The Eagles are 0-9 for the season and 0-6 in 4-AA. There will be a flag ceremony honoring veterans before the game. [Full Story »]

Brad White posted a resounding victory in the race for sheriff. Capturing 62 percent of the votes cast in the three-man race, there will not be a runoff.

Van Baker was elected with 71 percent of the vote in the district three commission race.

Emily Johns resigned as President of the Barnesville Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Johns said, “Lamar County is one of the most wonderful places I have ever been. The town is picturesque and filled with the most wonderful people.”

Ms. Johns began her work with the Chamber in July and effectively managed Summer Sizzle and Buggy Days alongside the Committee Chairs, TJ Imberger and Tim Turner and multiple volunteers. Julia Ann Ridgeway, Chair of the Board of Directors, stated that the board wished her well and appreciates her work while serving as President.

Emily Rowland, the Administrative Assistant, will be taking care of daily operations and the Board invites the community to the upcoming Illumination Ceremony scheduled for November 21, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in downtown Barnesville. [Full Story »]

All area veterans are invited to attend the last football home game Friday, Nov. 9, to take part in unfurling the large garrison United States Flag on the field prior to the game.

They should report to Maj. Paul Stinson on the track at the 50 yard line marker on the home side of the field at 6:45 p.m.
