Professional Services will be held on Friday September 28, 12pm at the Sardis Missionary Baptist Church.
Rev Harold Banks will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
He is survive by his two sons Mr. Darren Davis of Barnesville and Mr. Mark Miller of Thomaston. Devoted friend and fiancée Ms. Linda Edge of Barnesville. Four Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren also survive. Five Sisters Mrs. Louise (Billy) McDowell of Locust Grove, Ms. Clarice Miller, Ms. Earnestine Hansford, Mrs. Linda (Albert) Rutland, and Ms. Geraldine Ellerby all of Barnesville. Five Brothers Mr. Otis (Susan) Miller, Mr. Tommy (Gretchen) Ellerby, Mr. William Ellerby, all of Barnesville, Mr. Charles (Joyce) Ellerby of College Park, and Mr. Gary (Robin) Ellerby of Jacksonville, Florida. Virginia Reed, resident of Brookhaven, Georgia, formerly of Barnesville, Georgia passed away on August 17, 2018 at Northside Hospital at the age of 82. Ginny was born in Barnesville, Georgia, graduated high school and moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She was employed at New York Life Insurance Company and retired after 35 years. She played basketball in high school and always loved the sport. Ginny was elected the Atlanta Hawks Number 1 Fan in 1974 and became an active member of the booster club. Her goal in life was to help take care of animals that were neglected or in poor health or just needed a good home. She helped many families in the Lynwood Park area for many years and became known as the dog lady. She helped several organizations, especially S.A.F.E. (Save Animals From Euthanasia). Ginny had one sister, Sarah Coleman who lives in Acworth, Georgia. The memorial service was held on August 27, 2018. Donations can be made to the ASPCA

Mrs. JoAnn Swygert, age 87, of Barnesville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Swygert was born Monday, May 18, 1931, in Pike County, Georgia, to the late James Lester Bankston and the late Ona Mae Alexander Bankston. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Taylor Swygert. Mrs. Swygert was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Haralson, Georgia.
She is survived by her daughters, Leslie Ann Swygert of Ashburn, Wanda Brothers of Barnesville, and Nancy Glynn of Columbus; grandchildren, James Sumners, Bradshaw Sumners (Carry), Charles Glynn (Lauren), Katie Keske (Sam), Natalie Glynn, and Jeremiah Brothers; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Sumners, Crosby Sumners, and Joanna Keske; sister, Ruth Purvis; brother, Hollis Bankston; sister, Uldine Brumbeloe; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean King Kennedy, 90, of Barnesville died peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 6, 2018.
She was proceeded in death by husband, Harvey J. Kennedy; son-in-law, Wayne Robinson; sisters, Frances Yeager and Elisabeth Rice; and parents, M.H. King and Margaret Gay King.
She is survived by her two daughters, Gay Robinson and Tracy Kennedy; grandsons, Preston Robinson and Brett Robinson; nieces, Gay Rice, Margaret Dufeny and Virginia Bailey; pets, Purry Paleface, Tuffy Goldenboy and grand dogs ZoE and Teddy.
Jean grew up in Woodland, Georgia and attended Queens College and UGA and completed her degree in education after her children were in college. She received her specialist degree from Mercer University.
She began her teaching career with Pike County schools and then taught at Milner Middle and Lamar County until her retirement. At that time, she worked in the Kennedy Law Firm until her husband‘s death.
Jean leaves behind a legacy of devotion and love for family, friends and community. She was strong in her faith, strong in her love of family and strong in her love for her friends. She had an uncanny ability to see the good in everyone.
