Mr. George Newton Martin, age 88, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at The Landings of Gainesville.
George was born on Monday, April 28, 1930 to the late Walter Edward Martin and the late Vannie Dumas Martin. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Woodward, Frances Hutto, and Fannie Lou Piper; brothers, Eugene Martin, Walter E. Martin, Jamie Martin, and J.H. Martin. George served in the United States Army, having fought in the Korean War and worked as a Machinist at Carter’s Mill.
George is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Elaine & Terry Adams of Gainesville; son, Roger Martin of Culloden; grandchildren, Brandy & Josh Clark, Niki & Clint Watson, Kelly Martin, Mark & Tristan Adams; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Annette Andrews, Sarah Agnes & Broadus Smith; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mr. George Newton Martin will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Breedlove Memorial Chapel with Reverend Franklin Gibson officiating. Mrs. Sheila Lynn Moon Ivins, age 60, of Barnesville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Riverside Health and Rehab in Thomaston, Georgia.
Mrs. Ivins was born on Monday, October 27, 1958 to the late Polly Hill Moon and Eschol Moon, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Paul R. Ivins, who died on January 3, 2019; a sister, Deborah Moon Kendrick; a brother, Michael Allen Walker; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Ivins. Sheila worked for the Georgia DOT and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Barnesville.

Ms. Mary Ellen Arrendale, 83, of Yatesville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2019 at Compassus Hospice in Griffin, Georgia.
Ms. Arrendale was born on Wednesday, August 28, 1935 in Roba, Alabama to the late William Ellis Arrington and the late Mildred Louise Gregory Arrington. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Susie Diane Lukenbill and by her sister, Mildren Blan. Mary worked as a Manager in at Arrendale’s Grocery Store in Sparta, Georgia and was a member of the Cowboy Church. She loved crafting, flowers, dogs, and bingo.
She is survived by her children, Ronnie Burnette (Melanie), Kenneth Burnette (Carol), William Burnette (Kathy); brother, W.D. Arrington (Margaret), 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

Reba Mangham
Reba Mangham, Lamar County’s oldest living World War II veteran, died early Monday. She celebrated her 100th birthday Sept. 2, 2018.
Mangham served in the Womens’ Air Corps during WWII. She was a cousin to the Mangham siblings of Pike County who last year set a Guinness World Record as the worlds oldest living set of brothers and sisters.
Reba Mangham was born Monday, September 2, 1918, and passed away Monday, March 4, 2019, at the age of 100.
She received her bachelors and master’s degrees from GSCW (now Georgia College and University) and the University of North Carolina.
She was a social worker and spent most of her career teaching social work at Florida State University and the University of Texas at Arlington.
During World War II she was in the WACS (Women's Army Corps). She was believed to be the oldest living veteran in Lamar County.
Reba enjoyed painting, sculpting, gardening, playing golf, and traveling internationally.
She was predeceased by her parents Lorie Mangham, Sr. and Rebecca Bush Mangham. Also predeceasing her were a sister and brother-in-law, Jane Mangham Meixel and George (Mike) Meixel.
Reba is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Lorie and Josephine Mangham, Jr.
Other survivors include nephews George (Debbie) Meixel and Hugh Mangham. Surviving nieces are Rebecca Meixel Carter and Jolynn (Bob) Mangham Cichocki. Several great nieces and great nephews survive along with great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Martha “Mot Mot” “Marty” Ann Williams, age 71, of Milner died Monday, February 25, 2019 at Upson Regional Hospital in Thomaston, GA.
Martha was born in Atlanta, GA on October 17, 1947. She attended Fulton High School in Atlanta and West Georgia College in Carrollton.
Martha was the daughter of the late Elam and Emmie Williams and was predeceased by her sister, Mary Owen.
She is survived by her brother, John M. Williams of Thomaston and sister, Sharon Hooks of Milner.
Martha loved life, books, music, laughter, food, animals and people. She was sunlight on a dark day.
Her memorial service will be an “Irish Wake”, as requested on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 709 McKenzie Rd., Milner.

Ms. Milner was born on Monday, January 14, 1935 in Barnesville to the late Lewis Samuel Torbert and the late Dolly Buffington Torbert. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Mark Boris, Jr.. Betty worked for the Lamar County School System as a Teacher. She enjoyed reading. Betty was faithful her whole life to her Lord and her family.
She is survived by her children, Liz Milner, John & Sherri Milner, and Margaret & Mark Boris; 6 grandchildren.
