Mrs. Billie Ruth Holley McCarley, age 93, of Barnesville, GA, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Sunny Grove Assisted Living in Barnesville.
Mrs. McCarley was born on Sunday, February 28, 1926 in Mitchell County, Georgia to the late William Tyner Holley and the late Bessie Augzette Alday Holley. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alvin McCarley; sister, Kathryn Butler; Mrs. McCarley worked as a secretary at Smith’s Furniture & General Tire and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. She was in the Woman’s Business Club, the Young at Heart Club, and was a member the Red Hat Society. Mrs. McCarley enjoyed traveling.
Mrs. McCarley is survived by her children and their spouses, Patty & Charles Lee of Bonaire, Jan & Dan McLean of Griffin, Craig & Judy McCarley of Orchard Hill, and Ginger McCarley Tinley of Griffin; grandchildren, Katy & Steve Thorn, Amy & Lee Coe, Andy Lee, Jodi Snyder, Danielle & Will Lindsey, Brian & Jennifer Head, and Jeff & Ashley Head; 5 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mrs. Billie McCarley will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Barnesville First Baptist Church with Reverend Garth Forster officiating. Donald E. Ward
Donald E. Ward, 72, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side, on July 24, 2019, following a courageous battle with cancer. Don, a former Ohio resident, was a resident of Fort Myers, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Verna Jean (Angie) Ward (Seals); mother, Norma Jean Ward; children, Scott Ward (Pong), Jon Ward (Tina); siblings, Larry (Deanna) Ward, Jamie (Robert) Fisher, Jill (Dale) Frank; six grandchildren: Preston, Max, Joshua, Clayton, Emily, Jacob; and three great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by daughter, Kelly Lancaster; father, Walter E. Ward; sister, Linda Coe; and mother & father in law, Ralph & Katherine Seals.
Don was born June 19, 1947 to Norma Jean Ward and Walter E. Ward in Barnesville, Ohio. After graduating high school and getting married, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Accounting. He then went to work for Liberty Mutual Insurance Inc. for 25 years until he founded Special Claims Services Inc. in 1993. He remained president of Special Claims Services Inc., Mount Vernon, Ohio, until his passing. He was an avid Ohio State fan, golfer and card playing enthusiast.
Don will be sadly missed by many relatives, great friends, business associates and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, integrity and always positive outlook.
A celebration of Life service will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Ohio Union, 1739 North High St., Columbus Ohio, 43210.
An additional memorial service will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2:15 pm at the Shell Point Village Church Chapel, Ft. Myers Florida.

Mrs. Allie Compton Boggs, age 85, of Barnesville, GA, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston.

Mrs. Boggs worked at the Thomaston Times, in the Carter’s payroll department, President’s assistant at Gordon College, and was the President’s assistant and Corporate Secretary with United Bank until her retirement. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, a Sunday School Teacher, and very active in her community. Mrs. Boggs was the first lady to serve on the Lamar County School Board and former Lamar County Business Person of the Year.

Mary Sue was born on Monday, February 13, 1939 to the late Murphy Suthard and the late Grace Gillions Suthard of Montross, Virginia. Mary Sue was an inspiration to her family and always had a beautiful smile.

Laura Mae Charlene Harris Harrison, passed away peacefully on 7/9/2019, in Rome.
Laura was born August 3, 1946 to Col. CTB Harris and Marjorie Woodward Harris. Grandparents were Irene Tumlin and James Swann Harris, Lucille Castleburg and John Charles Woodward, founder of Woodward Academy.
Laura joined her brothers Bud and Jim learning to run and play on their Ben Hill acreage. When Laura was six, she moved to Barnesville Georgia where her father was the President of Gordon Military College. After ten years, the family relocated to Rome for her father to be the assistant to the President at Shorter College, until his retirement. Laura attended Gulf Parks College in Mississippi to study art. Her drafting skills were later used to restore a historical home "between the rivers district" in downtown Rome. Laura married Julian Mark Harrison, III and they had a daughter Lauralyn M. Harrison and a son J. Mark Harrison, IV. Laura was very involved in the activities of her grandchildren, Justin, Emmelyn and Quint Harrison and Madeleine and Parker Sharp. Frances (Fran) Thristino
Frances (Fran) Thristino age 76 of Barnesville, Georgia passed away at her home on Thursday, May 23, 2019. She was born in Brooklyn on September 12, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph and Theresa Thristino. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Thomas Scott Wheeler and Christopher Alan Wheeler. She is survived by her son Joseph Wheeler of Kentucky. She is also survived by two sisters Theresa Thristino Wilson of Tallahassee, and Julie Knox of St. Petersburg, Florida, two brothers. Frank Thristino of Massillon, Ohio and Joseph Thristino of Boynton Beach, Florida. She is survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews who loved and adored her greatly. She retired from The Department of Children and Family Services in Tallahassee, Florida. She was a very kind, gracious and generous person. She was truly loved by her family and friends and will be missed.

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Willie “Ivelyn” Cooper Ogletree. Ivelyn passed away peacefully in her home on July 8, 2019. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and a friend to all whose lives she touched. She was a kind, caring, loving, giving, humorous, fun, and compassionate person. She was loved by so many.
Ivelyn was born in Macon, Ga on April 29, 1927 to her Father, Joe Terrell Cooper, Sr. and her Mother, Fannie Lorene Moore Cooper. She is survived by her baby brother Billy (Antigone) Cooper and baby sister Yvonne (Harvey) Melvin. Ivelyn was proceeded in death by her brothers Joe Cooper, Emory Cooper, Shed Cooper, and Wayne Cooper. The family relocated to Barnesville, Ga in approximately 1937 and she remained in Barnesville the remainder of her life.
Ivelyn married Jesse Hill Ogletree on July 12, 1946. They had 5 children – Hill Ogletree, Terry Ogletree, Pam (Donald) Royal, Susan Ogletree, and Gary (Kendra) Ogletree. She was proceeded in death by her Husband, Jesse Hill Ogletree in 1991 and her daughter, Susan Ogletree, in 2007. She had 6 grandchildren – Kim (Jeff) Thomas, Kelli Blakey, Lacy (Jeremy) Worthy, Jeremy (Tara) Ogletree, Chase (Brooke) Ogletree, and Kori Ogletree. She had 13 Great Grandchildren – Abbie Royal, Emmie Thomas, Brantley Worthy, Peyton Thomas, Laura Grace Worthy, Kaylie Thomas, Will Blakey, Robert Blakey, Eli Thomas, Jonah Thomas, Elizabeth Ogletree, Alice Ogletree, and Charlie Sue Ogletree.
Ivelyn had numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends that she loved very much.
Ivelyn worked for 25 years at William Carter Company in Barnesville, Ga. At the age of 40, she attended Upson Technical School in Thomaston, Ga in 1971 and earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. She was passionate about Nursing and was known to be a great Nurse! She worked as a Nurse at Upson County Hospital in Thomaston, Ga and at Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Barnesville, Ga until she retired in 1983.
Ivelyn was a member of Barnesville Church of Christ and was a devoted Christian. She set a tremendous example of her Christian faith to her children, grandchildren, family, friends and loved ones. She was an avid gardener and a lifetime member of McIntosh Trail Master Gardeners. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, gardening, reading, writing, and journaling. She loved showering her friends and family with special cards in the mail and flower arrangements. She loved spending time with her family and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially loved to teach her grandchildren how to shell peas, cut off corn, bake cakes and sweets, and how to garden. She loved to laugh, she loved to make us all laugh, and there was never a dull moment.

Mr. William Wade Head, age 61, of Barnesville, GA passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at his residence.
Wade was born on Friday, April 11, 1958 to the late William Pitt Head and the late Pauline Wade Head. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Smith. Wade owned Quality Paving. He liked to collect Coca-Cola memorabilia and travel.
Wade is survived by his son, Gralon Head; daughters, Picabo Head and Lanie Johnson; true loving friend, Freck; his Quality Paving family, his pet, Pierre.
A funeral service for Mr. Wade Head will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Breedlove Memorial Chapel with Reverend Chip Garrison officiating. The family will receive friends at Williams-Westbury Funeral Home on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.

Mrs. Sara Louise Harper Mathews, age 72, of Barnesville, GA passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Brightmoor Hospice.
Mrs. Mathews was born on Wednesday, January 15, 1947 to the late John Harper and the late Edith Marie Meeks Harper. She worked in the loan department at 1st National Bank and was a member of the Barnesville Church of the Nazarene. Louise loved the beach and the mountains. She enjoyed shopping and she loved to read all books, but mysteries were her favorite. Louise loved spending time with her grandchildren & family and she loved her church family.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bobby Mathews; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie Renee Mathews Cantrell (Zeb); grandchildren, Zoe McKay and Zade Kingston; sisters, Betty Jean Blackston and Maryann Brown; brother, John T. Harper; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Sara Louise Mathews will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, July 1, 2019 at the Barnesville Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Kevin Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Williams-Westbury Funeral Home on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
