Graduation rate is 70%

As evidence of Lamar schools’ success, superintendent Dr. Bill Truby points to a graduation rate of nearly 70%. The Herald-Gazette erroneously reported last week that the dropout rate was 70%. “The drop out rate is not even close, ranging from four to eight percent a year,” Truby said.

A 70 is a C-. Is that suppose to be ok now! What happens to the other 30 percent? I take it that the school "system" is proud of the 70 percent rate. I believe the 30 percent who do not graduate should have to atleast reimburse the tax payers the cost of 12th grade if not 9-12 for sending them to school.

The other 30% are the ones that don't want to get an education no matter what the school system does. It is very, very sad the number of students who don't see a future in an education no matter what they are told about a future without it!

There is nothing ignorant about my statement which is not an assumption. I know this because I am involved with it first hand.
