My 10th-grade science teacher did not inspire me to become a scientist. But he did inspire others in our class and some did become scientists.

THere you go. Schools always scream they want more parent involvement. But when it happens, what you say is true. When I tried to help out in my childs school, teacher didn't want me there.
I have heard many , many stories of parents trying to help teachers, in school, etc. One parent was even banned from school property.
Most parents don't understand what NCLB is all about. It is *suppose* to be about making sure schools teach the students and get them to grade level in math and reading.
If they do, they get more money. So, you would think this is what schools do. Right??
WRONG! They teach ONLY what is on these tests, they teach HOW to take these tests. To me this is the schools CHEATING.
They pressure young students and make them scared to fail the tests, this is happening right now to my grand children.
THey have 'dumbed down' what is taught in schools (if you can call it that, I don't) so the students can pass the state tests so the school can get more money.
Lots of schools cheat, give the answers, change the answers on the tests, etc to make the scores passing.
It's a huge deal in GA right now, they are checking EVERY school in the state about this.
EVERY Sunday in AJC on the front page there is an article about school corruption of some kind.
Schools will never admit that it's THEIR fault that students are graduating, or quitting, not knowing how to read, write, math, etc.
The students are in school for *13* years and teachers just let them pass year after year, KNOWING they can't read, write, etc?
This is NOT the students fault!! Teachers get paid by these students parents to TEACH them!
Now, I know LOTS of kids don't care to learn and make it hard on everyone else. That's a whole other story.
than their partents before them. Teaching the generations to better themselves as time go on.
