University system cuts go too deep!

Parents of teenagers pay attention. You think your biggest worry is whether your children will get the HOPE Scholarship? You are in for the surprise of your life this year, and for the next couple of years.

The Hope Scholarship comes from the Lottery
not out of tax payers money. The teachers
assocation will have to get over it.
They will have to take pay cuts and layoffs
like the rest of the state. You are not any
different than the rest of us.

re-read the piece. This isn't about cutting the professors and teachers' salaries. It is about cutting degree programs, and possibly closing entire institutions.

A tax payer, I think you are misinformed. This article addresses the University System of Georgia. The USG has no teacher association. The USG has taken the same pay cuts (furloughs) and layoffs as the rest of Georgia. Huge cuts in funding have happened for years.

Students are the ones who will suffer in these cuts. Not only will class sizes rise, but tuition will as well. Quality of education will fall.

I encourage everyone to support higher education in Georgia. Please correspond with your congressperson.

Didn't Sonny Perdue just give Kia motors $400 million to build that car plant in West Point?
Talk about cororate WELFARE.

Republicans don't care about higher education except for their kids in PRIVATE schools.

I guess it depends on whether you actually want your kids to be able to actually *do* anything with that Hope Scholarship money, now, doesn't it.

I attend FRTC and we were told that the RN program will not be available thru FRTC anymore after Dec. 2011 due to budget cuts. Those of us who are not program ready have to go to Columbus Tech to start and finish the nursing program. Hopefully Gordon wont have to cut it from their degree programs.

Sign this petition to be delivered by the Democratic Party of Georgia to the General Assembly with 5000 signatures! Regardless of your party affiliation, I think this is one issue we all agree on, and let's let them know!
