Conflict may not have been on the agenda but it was heavy in the air March 11 at the regular meeting of the reconstituted Board of Assessors.

Why did you waste your time by writing this very vague article, if it can be called that. I think the purpose of a news paper is to give the public information about local events. This piece says nothing other than NOTHING

Thats the whole point. Newspaper sales. This site is just advertisement for the newspaper with comments enabled to attract more viewers.

Well, a newspaper is a business like any other, there are employees to be paid, there are taxes to be paid.

I guess it's up to us to decide who at the meeting was breathing fire- I'll find out when I read the paper tomorrow.

The newspaper reports the board now claims they did not fire mayo. If they fired mayo they should man up and say they did it. Either the HG reported the first story on mayo wrong or the new board is a bunch of liars.

Just typical. When corruption replaces people with corruption, what do you expect.

I don't remember the last batch fighting and lying and back stabbing each other or being bullies and running each other off and then denying they did it. Someone is really power trippin, and that ain't good at all.

We have some problems here in Barnesville, folks, not the least of which is yet another "soon to be vacant" storefront on Main Street.

Same ol’ song just a different verse. From an unnamed source in the county court house the new chief appraiser has already been hand picked by the Board of Commissioners long ago. The changes that are being implemented are all part of a big conspiracy that the Board of Commissioners has been planning for some time now. Maybe these decisions were a knee jerk reaction to the assessment of certain agriculture farms within the county. Want to know what else they are covering up? Citizens ask questions there is so much more to this than what is being published. Anybody wanna know who the new chief appraiser is going to be??? Stay tuned.

It doesn't surprise me that we have crooks in the county commissioner's office we voted one in and another out. I say we should tax everyone in Lamar county not just the elderly home owners! After all we don't have children in school anymore.

I have a couple of questions, since reading the Tuesday HG.
1. What is the criteria to be a senior Assessor?
2. Persons just appointed to the board, attempting to become chairman? Doesnt that take qualifications?

Each of these questions, I have concerns. From my standpoint, I dont feel either is valid, in the current configuration of the board.

Eureka! You have hit the nail on the head--that is what my sources say and Peavy will be(or is) her co-conspirator. This plan has been in the works for some time.

why don't someone put a stop to all of this ring around the politicans? Like maybe THE VOTERS! Clean house.
