Procedural politics as usual or....pimping?

I have been serving my country in some way since the age of 17. Almost 40 years now. A little over twenty years was spent serving in the United States military. Every so often I had to take an Oath of Enlistment that went like this:

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

The oath appears to have TRANSCENDED – (To pass beyond the limits of: FreeDictionary.Com) into an OXYMORON – (a figure of speech that combines normally contradictory terms: Wikipedia) and developed into a PARADOX – (a statement or group of statements that leads to a contradiction or a situation which defies intuition.: Wikipedia) which defies INTUITION – (provides us with beliefs that we cannot necessarily justify: Wikipedia). Therefore the oath establishes that we defend the United States against all ENEMIES - a person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something: US Military Dictionary) but that we obey the orders of the President of the United States. The rest is up to you.

In a nutshell – we must defend the USA from all enemies by obeying orders from an enemy progressive (liberal) that wants to totally change the Republic our forefathers established with the hidden agenda of bankrupting or changing our country into a socialist form of government which betrays the trust of the people and who is activity turning a deaf ear to the people while using a minority of congressional leadership strong arming or bribing other congressional leadership to support a bill the people don’t want. And that’s just to name one little episode of his irresponsible of leadership.

That's how they met their ending fate. The power became more than the people.

J would imagine the enemy could look like anyone, including me.

When nearly 70% of the people don't want something and want it started over but the source of power intends on disregarding the people voice, just what does that say about that power.

I don't need to be hit in the head to know. I can see it for myself.

Perhaps you misunderstood my comments. I can respect the office of president but I don't have to respect the person holding that office, That respect MUST BE EARNED. To date Mr. Obama has not shown me any reason to respect him as a leader. That includes many members in Congress have none of my respect. However, and once again, the office in Congress comands respect too. Hope that is clear.

No business is to big to fail. Government made the decision to bail them out when in actually they should have let them go under.

I agree, the U.S. Constitution really is designed to live and grow as the nation grows. The Constitution has been amended 27 times.

There are 2 ways spelled out to propose change.

1. A bill must pass both houses of the legislature, by a two-thirds majority in each. Once the bill has passed both houses, it goes on to the states. Congress will normally put a time limit for the bill to be approved as an amendment

2. A Constitutional Convention must be called by two-thirds of the legislatures of the States, and for that Convention to propose one or more amendments. These amendments are then sent to the states to be approved by three-fourths of the legislatures or conventions. This route to change the constitution has never been taken.

Regardless of which of the two proposal routes is taken, the amendment must be ratified, or approved, by three-fourths of states. There are two ways to do this, too. The text of the amendment may specify whether the bill must be passed by the state legislatures or by a state convention. Amendments are sent to the legislatures of the states by default. In any case, passage by the legislature or convention is by simple majority.

The Constitution, then, spells out four paths for an amendment: 1. Proposal by convention of states, ratification by state conventions (never used) 2. Proposal by convention of states, ratification by state legislatures (never used) 3. Proposal by Congress, ratification by state conventions (used once) 4. Proposal by Congress, ratification by state legislatures (used all other times)

The President has no role in the formal amendment process except tomake his opinion known. He cannot veto an amendment proposal, or ratification.

It's shameful to say but you're going to have radicals in every group that assembles. The problem really is if which side the protestors represent. They can be people angry at the speaking group or they can be a part of the group trying to cast bad media against the demonstrating party. You just never know. The same thing happened all through the campaign. The best thing is to not give them any attention they are seeking.
