Loaded gun in the home not in a locked box..I wonder if the safety was on.
Story sounds very convenient. The one time this father doesnt secure his gun is the one time the child happens to find it on a tall shelf at the same time the parents are unloading groceries.
Glocks that cops carry do not have a safety. Most people who are not police have a safety on their personal hand guns and use them. Police do not for reaction time. Thank God the child is ok.
Seems to me....a law enforcement officer would be more causious of where he puts his handgun. Especially when you have small children. Our children were raised with guns in the house. They were NEVER able to get to them, because they were locked. We had frends come over......they were LOCKED. I couldn't sleep at night if I was that parent!
I'll be dammed if I'm going to keep a gun in my home in some "lock box" so I'll have to fumble with some keys and such while someone kicks my door in and attascks my family
Folks have been having weapons in their homes in plain view for years and years. Children need to be more educated and safety enforced more stringently. Keep something from a kid and they'll want it more, thats kids, thats what they do.
In the days of violent video games and television, I would suggest we do not use our children and guns as a means to prove a point. Lock up your weapons.
To my understanding, the deputy's dad is sheriff of Henry co. That explains why he was not charged. If anybody else, you go to jail. Spalding county has a record of letting certain individuals walk when being guilty. That's why you see Harrah's gambling machines all over spalding co. Crooks crooks and more crooks! If you are a nobody(jail time) if you are known with money or involved with goverment or civic clubs and know lady judges in Griffin( you walk free). Good day!
I know of a Spalding county deputy who's 2 year old was left unattended and he fell out of a second storywindow. DFCS was never called to investigate, law enforcement wasn't called to investigate the incident or anything. Everyone knows that if he hadn't of been a member of law enforcement then he would have been raked over the coals wanting to know what happened and why was the child left in the care of 2 children under the age of 10 while many adults were down stairs and outside. Its a miracle the child wasn't seriously hurt. But it just goes to show that Law enforcement does get special treatment and if you don't believe it your an idiot.

Well, why is it that when any other parent in the free world has a child shot, THEY *ARE* breaking some kind of law and gets charged with the crime.

SO let him sit in jail a wait for a trial.
This is so wrong in so many ways.
