Read the following and decide if it is good law or bad law: "For any lawful contact made by a law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person. The person's immigration status shall be verified with the federal government pursuant to 8 United States code section 1373(c)."

The states that are stepping up to protect their interests against illegal immigration are to be commended and supported. Shame of the feds for dereliction of duty !
they have no rights. That is the law.....
As supporters of the bill point out, Arizona was a special case among states. Thanks to tough security measures put in place in California and Texas during the 1990s, the Arizona-Mexico border became the favored highway into America. But here, too, the Homeland Security data are remarkable. In 2000, 725,000 people were apprehended illegally crossing the border in Arizona. By 2006, the number of apprehensions had fallen to 510,000. By 2009, it had plummeted to 249,000."
"That number still isn’t close to zero. But the notion that border apprehensions are down nearly two-thirds in the last decade complicates the notion of a “crisis.”"

If people are not willing to allow better gun control laws to limit criminals access to weapons out of fear of losing 2nd amendment rights, then I am not willing to give up my 4th amendment rights due to illegal immigrants (that are leaving anyway due to lack of work)
We should run them ALL out, RIGHT!!!!!!!
I believe this country should have VERY,VERY,VERY strong laws against people arriving in OUR land or on OUR shores illegally.
The Indians should have taken a stricter immigration stance. Where did you come from?
I think the Government should go back in everyone's family tree and if your ancestors came to this country illegally then you must go back to the illegal immigrants homeland.
Everyone ELSE is breaking the law but not your family,!!!!!!
I feel there should be a National ID card. Then there would be a set standard for the states to follow. Then anyone who doesn’t have it goes to jail, if it’s at home then they pay a fine for not having it on their person. If they don’t have one and are obviously from another country then they should be deported immediately.
When you get a passport you have the option of getting an ID as well. It is only $20.00 more, that is $120 for Passport and ID. This should be the national standard for all Americans. And if a person says that they never will travel outside of America then that person should still have to get the ID
As for racial profiling that is something criminals came up with in an attempt to get out of trouble and enough liberal minded people bought into the idea. The profiling card only works for certain groups of people anyway so it’s not really valid in today’s America.
And there’s the catch all, if a person doesn't agree with Arizona's laws then they can move or vote in the next election, if they are legally registered voters.
I think this incident may have prompted this new law:

The illegals have already given a name to Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern California, because it really belongs to them. (Republica de Norte). Are we prepared to give these up? I think a lot of you are. Its a real shame. Just remember--They are in this country illegally---- They have no rights, just as you would not have any in their country.
sounds like your head is a confusing place.
I wonder what good ole Ben Franklin would say about this...I guess I do not have to wonder.
“They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security”.
Your right republicans, we have drifted away from the vision of our founding fathers. But you are wrong as to who is responsible.
Kick the illegals out and let the liberals escort them home but don't give the liberals the papers to get back in.
The only issue I have with the Arizona law is the provision that makes it a misdemeanour offence, punishable by fine and/or jail time, if a LEGAL immigrant does not have their green card or certificate with them when stopped by police. I think this is a little heavy handed, unfair and does nothing to fight ILLEGAL immigration. Last time I looked, the United States was not a totalitarian state that required people to 'carry their papers'as though they were living in some dictatorship like Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.
Welcome to the U.S. I am glad you have come here the right way. It's not that I want you to be hassled by any means, but when I lived overseas,as a teenager,I could not go out of my house without-my ID.-my fathers ID.number that I had to memorise in case I was questioned by the local police, which was on several ocasions, through my own stupidity. I did not have to carry a briefcase or manila folder to have all of the proper information necessary to go about my daily duties. I do not think you have to either. What do you have to carry on your person that you can't fit in your bilfold.I would like to know! No one here legally should be hasseled at all, just the ones that do not have the correct paperwork. I hope you have your drivers permit, ins, papers, and tag registration with you when you drive, if you do.I was born here and I have to have all of these, plus a background check, if I am stopped for some reason or another. If I fail to have the necessary paperwork on me at all times, I am fined also. I do not think you have to carry a burdon that a legal citizen, born here, does not bare.( Welcome )
There is a lot of disinformation being floated around by the left about the Arizona law. I have added a link to the bill in the homepage section.
I hope god forgive you for being so selfish.
