raise water taxes to pay for the water tower. if they were smart they'd put a burlesque show in the old rudy's building and tax the hell out of them to help pay for stuff
The government wants to stimulate the economy by pissing away our money. It’s welfare for the rich.
If I researched correctly, there are currently 6,970,303 home mortgages in the USA totaling 857, 409, 924,000.00 dollars, (that’s less than 900 billion). That means there are lots of working Americans out there working to pay their mortgage and paying taxes to give banks money to pay billions in perks to the top executives.
If government is so hard pressed to become a socialist nation and give money away to the banks, I have another suggestion to stimulate the economy from the bottom up rather than from the top down. And it will cost far less than the proposed plan now.
Government pays off all residential mortgages. Those homeowners receiving the bailout will pay an additional 5% to 10% in federal income tax, depending on the amount of bailout received, and those non mortgage holders will have no additional tax added.
The banks get money to continue doing business. The people have more money every month to stimulate the economy by making more purchases of other goods. The housing market will start to recover. People will save the auto industry because of the ability to afford a purchase. Government immediately starts to collect the bailout money back through taxes and, I’d bet that’s more than they will get back from those big companies any time soon.
However, I guess the politicians want to keep “their” money flowing at the common folk’s expense. They have to count on that big business to keep them in office. Ever wonder why a congressman, on up the ladder, never retires from office poor?
So, it is socialism to give the money to banks like Bush did? Or that is OK because they didn't have monitoring or wage controls?
It is not socialism to given money to people who can't pay what they agreed to pay? Or it is not socialism?
You are confusing me. Exactly what do you think is socialism? What Bush did, or what they are doing now? What sort of stimulus would not be socialism? When someone gives money to people with bad loads, or to banks with bad loans on the books?
I could understand me but you made no sense at all. Did you proof read before you hit submit?
Thomas Jefferson said that "banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies."
Our government is feeding the army. Almost a trillion dollars to banking establishments. The taxpayer gets the shaft while those armies reap the rewards.
Abraham Lincoln said "Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties."
It appears to me that government and the supreme court woud like nothing more than to rewrite the Consitution. Social reform?
Thomas Jefferson (Political Party: Democratic-Republican) said "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
The people are falling asleep with a false security blanket.
Thomas Jefferson also said "My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."
That's now one of the primary purposes of the democratic party. Grow - Tax - Spend
And last but not least Thomas Jefferson said "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
That spells socalism.
It's OK to assist people in difficult times but they're people out there making a career out of living on welfare. Why do I have to work to pay my way when lazy prefers to mooch off the me and other tax paying workers. Isn't that taking away from those who are willing to work and giving to those who won't? What do you call it?
Yeah: Our forefathers would roll over in their graves if they knew how the uneducated masses allowed government to rip our nation apart. Of course for some people, the only intelligent thing they are capable of doing is pointing the finger and blaming Bush.
I want to know why the democratic house still took a retreat to Virginia during this economic crisis as it is being called. If everything is so bad then shouldn't they need to postpone their vacations like the struggling, everyday american people?
Glad to see my tax money go to use for someone to relax and have a good time besides the people who deserve it.
New Publix and new restaurant and new city hall and new downtown and new 4,000 homes... No Hardees. Any restaurant? Milner Mayor said Mexican or Italian or Seafood or Pizza?
Dude, that means we can eat at Big Chic for lunch one day every week instead of bringing potted meat sandwiches. Oh, Obammy and Pelosi, you guys just stimulated the hell out of us. Heil Hitler!,.... uhmm, I mean Heil Obammy!
A Bibb County man suffered life-threatening injuries when a train struck the truck he was driving in Smarr on Wednesday morning.
Johnny Wynes Jr., 71, was taken by helicopter to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he was in stable condition late Wednesday. The accident happened at about 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Rumble Road and U.S. 41. TRAIN DERAILED AFTER HITTING TRUCK

The music is the theme from "Big Top Pee-Wee" by Danny Elfman (of Oingo Boingo fame). The album is 'Music for a Darkened Theatre.'
