Barnesville Remembers Saturday

For the second time this year, Barnesville-Lamar County will honor those who served in World War II.

Barnesville Remembers - A Tribute to our WWII Veterans gets underway Saturday morning at the Fine Arts Center on the Lamar County Schools campus. This event is open to the public and citizens are encouraged to come out and pay tribute to the vets.

I was there today and would like to say thank you again to all of our veterans. There was over 80 WWII veterans in attendance and the tribute was amazing.

This was a great event. Everyone needs to remember the selfless sacrifices made by all members of our armed services. World War II vets are increasingly forgotten and they deserved to be recognized in our community as the heroes they are. They of course will deny they are heroes but we have freedom today because of their sacrifice.

Thanks to Mark Stone and Kent Kingsley for putting together a memorable and moving event.
